Why does TB give up the better , younger, cheaper (even with the retention) player who plays the more valuable position and add? That conversation goes something like this.

I understand the argument. Perbix is younger and could be considered more valuable. The reason I built the trade was because I find it very unlikely Tampa can resign both Stammer and Duke. You can give Stamkos a paycut, but Duclair deserves a raise. Tampa can't afford both. Most lightning fans have Perbix as a healthy scratch. Kudos for the deep roster. But I think you are overvaluing a guy that's been used as a healthy scratch (despite his good play) and underestimating the difficulty of resigning both Duke and Stammer.

Chose Nashville due to the abundance of 4th round selections and because he seems to fit the style of play Brunette has been trying to establish there. I don't think $2m for 2 years is really all that much to take on.

Perbix could be available however Smith would not be the piece even with the retention. Some on here have Perbix Derangement Syndrome
