Or, don't overpay Skjei and keep the promising 23 year old center instead of gifting him and a 1st away?

Or you resign the guy who's third among defensemen at 5v5 goals and 5th overall over the last couple of seasons and trade away the guy who's contract is quickly becoming an anchor. And the contract estimates are all on the high side for a reason

Necas will cost more in term and AAV. Jarvis wont be a 1 years deal; likely 2 or 6-8 years.

Martinook isn't taking 1M. Would likely be a similar 1.8x2 year deal.

Noesen should look for the biggest deal he can get, it won't be from the Canes.

Skjei will get more in term & AAV, he's likely gone.

That's too high a price to cut ties with KK. Can get it done for less.

I'm genuinely curious on what you think the Canes should do with KK.

Once they acquired Kuzey there isn't a spot for him. If you want to extend your window now, you can't keep him on the 4th line at that price. Sure in 2 years they may have a use for him, but you can't waste that cap space now.

I think you can rework the AAV on some of these contracts to get them to fit but these were just my guesses.
6-6.5 Seems about like what Necas is getting... Tippet is good comp and he got $6.2
Noesen seems like he wants to stay in Raleigh and there is a history of people resigning for a lot less than what they could have gotten on the market with the Hurricanes... just look at Aho
Skjei is probably about $.5 to $1m off and about 2 or 3 years off
You can replace Martinook with somebody for the $1m cap hit that does the defensive shutdown job

Kuzy signaled that he'll be dealt... I think that they'll find somebody to take on the contract

For sure, I didn't think anything you had was crazy, just my slight tweaks. I think Necas will want Bratt type $

I don't disagree that there are players who would take a discount to play with this roster/city, but you can't really compare Aho/Noesen. Aho was already set for life and was getting 'FU' money from anyone. Noesen's never been paid, won't get much term and it could be the last chance he has to cash in.

The KK question was for Caniac2000.... I fully agree with your take that he's likely gone.

"I think Necas will want Bratt type $" - He needs to be a little bit more consistent and develop a more complete game before I'd be willing to give him that

"I don't disagree that there are players who would take a discount to play with this roster/city, but you can't really compare Aho/Noesen"- I agree... I think a better comp is Andersen and Raanta coming back this offseason and taking about discount to stay with the Hurricanes

Play him as 3C. Get rid of the anchor of Staal, give Drury the 4C role.

What are you using as a basis for Staal being an anchor? I think KK would be a fine 3C but they already have a fine 3C that cost 2M less.

His defensive numbers are declining. His chance creation is declining, his faceoff numbers are declining, he's already 35, and he'll be 38 when that deal expires. Kotkaniemi is 23 and has 2C upside. Get rid of Staal and keep Kotkaniemi

Think they’d rather buy Kotkaniemi out than spend a 1st to be rid of him.

I don’t think he’d be that hard to move as long as they’d be willing to take back $$$.

His contract is too long for anyone to eat unless NJ pays more than just a 1st.
