Leafs finally have a real GM

Description
Love everything Tre has done from the day he got here. Started by adding character to the FO in a guy like Shane Doan as well as Guy Boucher (who is the real coach behind the bench) and will be Keefe's replacement in the near future

Then he looked at adding warriors in the likes of Bertuzzi, Domi, Benoit, Lyubushkin, Reaves, and Edmundson

I'm so glad we went away from the Engvall, Kerfoot, Mikheyev, Blackwell, Holl, Barrie, Marincin, Ceci, Malgin, Bunting, and Petan route

Ummmm, you're forgetting that he:

Klingberg - 4.2mil ridiculous
Bertuzzi - overpaid
Reaves - overpaid
Kampf - overpaid
Samsonov - inconsistent

then like his predecessor had to go out at TDL and acquire 2 starting dmen (giving props for addressing a problem they've had all year?)
Still 3rd in own division and defense/goaltending still looking shaky
Still capped out

Just seems like you're giving props for really same result (Dont get me wrong Dubas was bad), but I dont really see a better team this year

And regardless of 23-24 results, you're really rolling out the same flawed team, maybe worse?
And you really think a TDL acquisition at 31 yrs old, a expiring UFA making 3.75mil really stays in TOR for 3 yrs at 1.5mil? Or that an 18 skater team is a step forward? Or Holmberg not just becomes a fulltime NHLer at 24-25 yrs old, but is a quality 3rd liner?

I stopped reading after you called Bertuzzi as an overpay. Everything you need to know about a Dubas fan

Outside of Klingberg, would make those signings 20 times over. Love what Reavo, Bert, and Domi have brought to this team

I get you are a Dubas hater but “we become what we hate”; sounding like you’re giving Tre too much credit. Let’s see how playoffs go but ridiculous to claim he’s done a great job since he got here; some good + some bad but playoff results will be the ultimate arbiter.

Kampf tbf is a pretty good contract thus far...

And you get rid of Bert's 29, "can't score no matter what" game streak

As a Flames fan, this is one of the funniest things I've ever read.

I'll grant he's better than Dubas, but that's a low bar.

Shanahan's still there, right?

Even the real Brad Trevling knows enough about pro hockey that a team can't go into the season with just six NHL Dmen in the organization. Or just four NHL centres.

I'll call you out calling "Shane Doan" a character guy. Doan who had a MNC had multiple opportunites to waive this NMC to be traded at TDL by the non playoff Coyotes. But he declined, preferring to play golf in early April. Doan could have got the Coyotes young assets, and still resigned with the Coyotes.
Gee, Doan's one guy the Coyotes should have moved away from in his playing days.

Kinda funny that you mentioned a bunch of players that you were happy the Leafs moved away from. Some of those were Dubas moves and others were UFAs, free to sign anywhere. Not much to do with Trevling at all.

Dubas' stench is still all over this team in terms of the Tavares, Marner, and Brodie contracts so I will have no issue if Tre loses in the first round this year

You’ve obviously lost perspective; Brodie has been fantastic player for this team - literally one of the best defensive dmen in the league - admittedly struggling this year but he’s pending FA. Marner is top 10-15 player in league & no one criticized Tavares contract at the time - Covid breaking the cap was impossible to predict . But you do you 🤷🏻

Unsolicited shots from a fan of a non playoff team with a terrible arena that can’t keep their stars 😂. Yeah, Flames fans are who Leaf fans should turn to for advice 🤣🤣🤣

Kind of like Bjugstad?

And TBF to Doan, think of the move it would be, knowing you're only there for half the year and returning...
