Description
Grebenkin wants to be surrounded by more Russian players.

More or less forces the Leafs hands to get assets for him by threatening to stay in Russia.

Completely made up situation but it could happen.

Other than that odd ball trade, that probably wouldn't ever happen but who cares. This would be a content line up.

Gotta get the young guns of the future rolling with Miro and Leonard playing together

Interesting proposal - not sure (yet) how Tre feels about Liligren. But if he wants to move on from him, then value seems fair. Don’t know much about Grebenkin but Leafs have proven to be a good spot in the past for Russians to come and get established in nhl - mikheyev, barebonov, etc.

He was a later draft selection that is playing well in the KHL. The idea behind it was more or less to have him eventually playing with Miroshnichenko. Get some deep Russian lines lmfao

Grebenkin's a beast...

And Lilly's been playing well, don't see Tre moving him

I personally withhold judgement on any Russian prospect until they are in North America but hoping he’s the real deal. And Lili has been better but still soft and prone to mistakes (at times). I’m 50-50 on if he will, or should be, on team next year; like most on this team - playoffs are where the questions will be answered

I'm big on Lilly, he's a guy, IMO, that we'd all go: I wish the Leafs had a guy like him for their playoff push, if he were to get dealt

Fantastic puck mover who can read the ice well

His mistakes are because he's relied upon and has the puck so much, just like how a guy like JT/Rielly/Marner/Matthews/Nylander/Domi would make mistakes

Reilly is an elite offensive dman and the other guys you listed are elite offensive forwards 🤦🏻. Lili is not in that category; like I said he has potential and he’s improved every year but at this point (& age) he shouldn’t be making this many mistakes and his lack of physicality at times (watch empty net goal last night) is bothersome.

I'm talking about the puck being on his stick

i.e. puck on stick more = more mistakes

Lilly isn't in the same category for players, but I'm saying bc the puck's on his stick more... He's going to get more mistakes

And on the empty net, I seemed to recall one John Tavares not hitting Jack Hughes hard enough for the goal, do we throw him into the sun for that too?

First of all no data to support your statement that puck is on his stick more than other dmen. And if you do have the puck, you need to produce positive outcomes (points, scoring chances, zone exits, etc). We live with Reilly defensive foibles b/c he produces offense at an elite level for a dman. Lili ain’t that, but like I said I’m not ready to bury or promote him - withhold judgement until after playoffs.
JT looked bad as did most of team last night but no decision needs to be made on him; he’s core part of team for this and next year. Different discussion.

I can't see Anaheim paying more than a fifth for Ethan Bear -- where's he been all season? -- let alone pick #65.

I mean, looking at Lilly's stats, he's 2nd on the team in GAE (behind Jake McCabe and ahead of Morgan Rielly)

3rd for shots on goal per 60 (behind Mo and Gio)

3rd in shot attempts (behind McCabe and Rielly, while playing 18 less games)

5th in hits (behind Benny, McCabe, Rielly and Libby... But if you adjust it to his everyone else's games played, he'd have more than Rielly for 4rth on the team)

5th in blocked shots (behind Libby, Brodie, Rielly and McCabe, but if you adjust it to his everyone else's games played, he'd lead the team)

4rth in giveaways (behind Brodie, Rielly and McCabe) and the same for Defensive zone giveaways...

Oh, and here's your JFresh card (The most recent one I can find):
Fp6-5fwXoA0TLSb.jpg:large

Look at those possession metrics
So where's the defensive nightmare I was told?

I don’t base my hockey opinions off of someone else’s opinions; advanced metrics are useful but not the whole picture imo. When I watch the games, I see a guy in Lili that has good and bad moments and at his age - I’d hope to see less bad moments. But again (for 5th time) - I’ll withhold judgement on his future role on this team based on his playoff performance

And when I watch every game, I see a guy in Lilly that makes good play after play, only to get sh1t on when he makes one mistake.

Watch him do well in the playoffs just like he did in the RS, he's taken a bunch of steps forward this year
