I am by no means a Habs fan, but moving all that asset for Ansersson is crazy. Barron, Reinbacher, Mailloux should be the top 3 RD (not in that order) within 2 years. All under 23.

In 3 years, with what Hughes has assembled, the Habs will have one of the best bluelines in the NHL.

Absolutely no need at all for Andersson. No. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Further, as much as I love Laughton (and I do), Matheson is a gross overpay. Taking what I would call Hughes' shrewdest moves and turning into a 3C is absolutely brutal asset management. Especially with Beck, Roy and Kidney all comping at the bit.

Don't rush the rebuild. Hughes' work has been stellar. There is not an organizational hole in Montréal. Moving assets to speed that up? Particularly in a position where there is no need? Just wow.

Ride it out bro. Ride it out.

Signed, a Leafs fan.

While I am not strictly against trading for Andersson, 2025 is going to be a hell of a draft. I mean far and away the best of 2024-2026. Trading what could end up being 2 high picks in 2025 makes very little sense to me unless we are bringing in a 100 point player.

I don't see what Philly gains in this trade? About a year older player, with nearly 2million more in salary. They aren't desperate for Dman, let alone a left handed one. I'd rather just trade Laughton for a 2nd round pick at this point if they decide they must make the move.

Agree, Flyers need Laughton more than Matheson. Though I wouldn't trade him for 2nd. Only first/good prospect, if no one is paying that, then so be it, just roll with Laughton.
