Hawks aren't paying anything for Faksa. Stars pay the Hawks to take him. The UFA signings aren't too impressive either. This would be a disappointing off season, even for the Hawks.

It’s hilarious people think this. Stars don’t need to pay anyone to take him. Faksa is an elite defensive center who is perfect in a shutdown role. He is only overpaid by about $1 mil. A 6th or 7th round draft pick for him from a seller is a good deal as you can flip him with salary retained at the deadline. With what some of the bottom six forwards got this TDL, a third round pick wouldn’t be out of the question.

Good luck getting a 3rd round pick for a 4th line defensive forward making $3.25m.

Wow, learn to read my guy. With salary retained he would be making around $1.6 mil, a great price for Faksa. He is also on his last year of a contract, so retaining team doesn’t have to worry about it past next year. If Duhaime can get a third, then Faksa should easily be able to.

Hawks aren't going to be interested in that Dallas trade, and Vlasic on a 7 year deal will make a lot more than this. He's top 5 out of the entire NHL in the defensive zone statistically. If the Hawks push to lock him up long term, which I believe they will, Vlasic on a 7 or 8 year deal will command a minimum of $5.5M and could be as high as $7M. This also why I think ultimately they agree to a bridge deal for $3.5M to $4.5M as both sides are going to want to revisit his performance in 2 to 3 years.

Oh I can read, it’s just your point doesn’t make sense and you come off like a snake oil salesman.

If Faksa is as you state “an elite defensive centre who is perfect in a shutdown role” then why would Dallas want to move him? Especially considering a team like Dallas with Stanley Cup aspirations are very likely to have to compete with other competitive teams that run out the likes of MacKinnon, McDavid, Eichel, Scheifele and Pettersson as their top line centres. At some point Dallas will have to go up against one or two of those guys to get through the playoffs, I would think “an elite defensive centre who is perfect in a shutdown role” would be incredibly desirable and yet here you are willing to trade that player for a 6th or 7th round pick??? Confusing… or horse s**t?

And then you want us to believe the acquiring team will then be able to move that “elite defensive centre who is perfect in a shutdown role” for a 3rd round pick IF they are willing to retain 50% ($1.6m) of his overpaid contract… so why would Dallas settle for a 6th or 7th round pick when they could just do the retention themselves and get a 3rd round pick? Confusing… or horses**t?

I’m just going to put this out there, maybe Faksa is not that good, atleast not $3.25m good.

Stars don’t need to move him and I never said they did. This thread is the one that suggested it. I was only saying that if they did move him, they don’t need to throw anything in with him to get him moved.

My point with retention and moving him is from the point of the team that would be flipping him.

And I already said Faksa was overpaid by about a million. He would be perfect value at around $2-2.2 million, so I don’t know why you have to “put it out there” that he isn’t worth 3.25

My point was that the only way the Hawks take on yet another overpaid bottom 6 forward from another team is if that team pays the Hawks to do it. Ask yourself what possible reason the Hawks would have to give up anything to add Faksa? Hint. There isn't one.

So it sounds like we were both just looking at it from our own team’s perspective. I admittedly am not super familiar with Chicago’s needs.

For me it’s obvious Stars don’t need to pay extra to get rid of a player they don’t need to get rid of, who is still extremely effective in his role. For the hawks, IF Faksa were to get moved it’s obvious Chicago isn’t a fit.
