You’re right - he’s having a down year. He does only have 3 less points than Caufield though…
Caufield had his spot taken though
He always shot from Ovi's Spot basically
MSL grilled him about it switching him and Slaf
He said he expects Caufield to be able to adapt and score goals in those high pressure area's if he's to evolve as a Goal Scorer.
He's not had the strides MSL was hoping for there but still doing solid as Caufields instead improved on his playmaking that early on made him popular in MTL.
That feed to Toffoli in the TML Series to put us back in the series was a pass i'll remember forever and Caufields expanding on that as he figures out how to succeed in the high pressure zones.
As MSL did this the line became one of the most productive in the NHL
Suzuki's on a Point Streak on pace for a career high and might be the first Canadian to break 80pts since Koivu and i think the 2nd to do it this millenium
Slaf's games taken big leaps forward too and im sure you're asking but how does that help Caufield?
He's staying healthy, playing smart and become a great shut down guy ask Matthews one of the hottest hands in the whole NHL and Nylander who Suzuki and Caufield covered all night.
Kyrou's got his reasoning to with all the changes since he came into the leagues in STL til now
But i doubt it was because his Coach decided he was getting to comfortable scoring goals in a place and took that option away from him like MSL did.
MSL is realizing he's in a Rebuild that nows the time to make these changes
