Bad move by Grier imo. I guess nobody else was interested in Kaapo, but they should have received far more than a 7th for swapping Goalies, especially for one with a Higher Cap Hit and additional year of term. Grier should have requested a couple 4th Round Picks over just a measly 7th
I bet Kaapo doesn’t fair any better statistically in NJD either, so it’s not an upgrade, it’s more of a move to dump Vitek
Kähkönen had better statistics than Vanecek in way worse team.... GAA oever 10 goals better than Vanecek, 89,5%-->89% save percentage,
They chose him over Holtz, so they must see something.
I watched him play and I didn't notice anything special yet.
They chose the whole package over Holtz. When Grier asked for Mercer or Holtz, Fitzy said “no” to Mercer and “if Holtz, it’s only Holtz”. This probably a case where quantity made more sense.
Zetterlund+Mukhamadullin+Musty…will likely be more valuable than Holtz.
