Why would LA want to pay anything for a 3rd string goalie? LA is looking for an upgrade in net.

Relax. They’re on the second half of a back to back with a flu bug going through the team. Doesn’t help that this game is the exact reason why Leafs fans complain about the refs either.
Selling is the worst idea when your core players are all having career best seasons.

Core players are locked up. They will be really good next year too. And the year after that. No need to be buyers every year.

In general people act like reg season matchups = similar playoff matchups

Not how it works

They have made some mistakes but it is the second half of a b2b among other things

If Woll didnt go soft may have had ourselves a game.

That said what I have learned they need PK help bad and while Edmunson helps they need it to where WILLY aint a full time PKER on the 2nd unit

You don’t kick away good years. These players may never have this good of season again. Another year and another year older.. players generally get worse with age and there’s always a risk of injury.
Selling is the dumbest idea. Ever.

Thats not how it works

Every competitve team buys every TDL

Look at VGK, AVS, EDM, DAL, TBL, etc

Wasting prime years of your guys would be the dumbest thing for any GM to do

Yeah I’m slightly concerned with Woll’s play. Seems like when the tempo picks up, he can’t keep up. Don’t get me wrong he’s been good and he’s a calming presence back there but giving up 2 extremely soft goals when his team needs those stops is kinda alarming

Also not gonna lie, Leafs haven’t played great outside of the first 15 mins of the second period so far, but this officiating is downright awful. Not trying to whine and blame the refs for the score, but it’s a factor for sure

We've seen far to many teams barely squeeze into the playoffs then win the cup. If Treliving gets off his hands and actually is allow3d to make a move to significantly make this team better they can absolutely win... They just can't be afraid to give up a Minten or a 1st as long as you're getting that top pairing minute eating defenceman

In general team hadnt dont itself any favors but its the second half of a b2b

Willy has not looked crisp tonight

Marner scored then makes a fumble of the year play instead of getting another goal lul

Mathews has been a bit quiet along with JT

But been happy with the not go away quietly

To bad for the PK and Woll lul

To me now you go get a PK forward so Willy dont got to be so heavily relied on there and rn there are options

I think the only positive tonight so far is the pushback is there to set the tone for the playoffs. Loved seeing Bertuzzi pump Wotherspoon

They should be aggressive buyers when JT's come contract comes off the books. Save some chips for two years.

Leafs have nothing to buy with, that's why they should sell this deadline and buy next year with the prospects they'll draft.

You have no clue how to be a GM.

How are they supposed to not be buyers this year, then buy with the prospects they have next year? They don’t have picks this year and most teams around the league don’t like their current prospects so they won’t like them next year either.

If they get an offer that makes the team better, they need to make to and will make it. You don’t wait when you’re going to the playoffs.

They should sell UFAs this year for picks, use them to draft prospects, and then flip them at next year's deadline when they have a better team.

For Vegas and Colorado it is, the two recent cup champs. And for Tampa it is.

… you mean the teams that bought at the deadline and didn’t sell? Thanks for making my point even more!

Vegas wheels and deals, they sell and buy. That's what good teams do, not just buy. Colorado sold Duchene. Tampa sold off Miller to Vancouver and then flipped that pick. Those are the types of deals the Leafs should be doing, not just chasing after rentals at the deadline like they do every year.
