So let's elaborate on the discussion begun so insightfully but succinctly by
@Armstrongs_Burner and consider the offer the Buffalo Sabres would make if Pavel Buchnevich and Colton Parayko were somehow on the market in the same package:
1. Instead of an expensive veteran UFA, Buffalo could offer
Henri Jokiharju, a 24-year-old RFA current roster player at half Brodie's cap hit who would be expendable due to the acquisition of Parayko.
2. Instead of a bottom-6 veteran forward who's reached his ceiling, the Sabres could offer
Peyton Krebs, a 23-year-old RFA current roster player still on his ELC who would be expendable due to the acquisition of Buchnevich and the development of several of Buffalo's excellent forward prospects.
3. Speaking of which, Buffalo could offer
any one of Jiri Kulich, Noah Ostlund or Matthew Savoie, all of whom are more highly-rated than Fraser Minten.
4. Instead of Jeremy Bracco 2.0, the Sabres could offer
Isak Rosen, a former first-round draft pick.
5. Instead of a 2024 first that would be in the last third of the draw, Buffalo could offer their 2024 first, which is virtually guaranteed to be in the first third of the draw and therefore superior to both of the Toronto firsts put together.
So tell me: which package is the fart, and which package is the orgasm?
