Nashville says no. We’ve filled up on older, slower defensemen, and since L’Hereux is a former 1st rounder currently lighting it up in the AHL, I’d have to think Montreal would add a whole lot more anyway for Nashville to even consider that.

Nashville says no because they aren't buying and Savard doesn't fit their age target.

woulnd't he be a BIG upgrade on Schenn ? I feel NAshville can make the playoff this year and next year with their defense and goalies

Why would Nashville pay a higher price than what Calgary got for Tanev for a defenseman that is objectively worse and plays a position that they have too many of (RHD)

Savard would be an upgrade on Schenn, but an upgrade over a 3rd pairing D isn't worth a 1st round prospect that is ahead of schedule in terms of development. L'Heureux is 3rd in scoring among all rookies in the AHL and the organization seems pretty high on him.

Return on Savard is at best a late 2nd round pick to mid 3rd round pick in my opinion. With Del Gaizo and Stastny (Preds D prospects in the AHL, both 23 years old) both looking ready to make the jump to the NHL I can't see the Preds being in the market for D anyways.

jsut to add, and I agree with you, Lebrun just came out saying Carrier is being shopped right now. Who would fill that role if Carrier is traded and Schenn goes on the 3rd pair

I think Carrier is being shopped because they've not been able to come to terms on an extension. Carrier is well liked, and the organization has been clear that they want to keep him but aren't open to the possibility of a sought after asset leaving for nothing as a UFA. I think it just means that Tyson Barrie is back in the lineup and you move one of the AHL guys up as your 7D or you move Lauzon to RD (he is a lefty playing on the LD currently because we have too many RD) and you move up one of the AHL guys as your 3rd pairing LD. I just don't see the Preds being in the market for a D, especially a RD unless they can move both Carrier and Barrie.

Swap Savard with Harris + 2nd and would make more sense for both sides
