Retaining 50% of Guentzel for whoever ends up acquiring him (guessing Van); Trotz said he wants a 2nd to do it but I bet he doesn't get more than a 3rd

Duclair would be a great pickup for NSH actually, adds some nice speed and scoring. Plus he gets a potential playoff showcase for his UFA value.

I think duke should get no less than a 2nd. Sharks have been in talks about extending him, he's point per game in his last 11 games on the thinnest roster the Sharks have maybe ever iced, and Mantha got a 2nd and 4th with only slightly better production but higher cap hit. Duke can also turn it on in the playoffs, which adds a lot of value

Can't see him getting more than Tarasenko though, right? I'd happily do a 3rd and a 4th.

Brutal trade by Ottawa I wouldn’t correlate

    We’ll see how Grier navigates.

With no Retention a 3rd seem fair due to how bad we’ve been but I would try for more.
With retention Grier could wait it out and get a good bit more

Tarasenko is not a comp for literally any winger traded this week. He had a NMC, his family lives in southern Florida, and he would only go there. The fact that Ottawa even got 2 mid round draft picks considering that is fairly impressive. They had less than no leverage.

I mean you're taking the context out. Tarasenko had a NTC so Ottawa had zero leverage, and even then that's not a great return

I agree there, but I'd be willing to give up a 5th for a 3rd party team to retain, to get that up to a 2nd for the Sharks. CAR retained $1,375,000 for only a 6th as the third party team so I think that wouldn't be too far off.

Yeah Mantha is a better comp but was having a WAY better analytical season plus hes a 6' 5" 235lb body that can score. If the return yall want is similar to him the Preds just pass.

Yeah I don't think the Preds would be willing to give up a 2nd+ but a team that's a True Cup Contender (no disrespect to the Preds, they've had a surprisingly good season) would be willing to spend that to get a middle six / top six forward who can absolutely fly

I'm talking about the thing he's better at than 95% of the league. He's got a great shot, great vision, actually a great forechecker when he's giving 100%, and a VERY well liked personality in the locker room (which does go a long way) but he's insanely fast with the puck and drives the net incredibly well is what i'm saying is his bread and butter, just like Mantha's is his shot and size

a 3rd round pick and a former 3rd rounder pick who's upside is "a solid third-pairing defenseman and a floor, at the very least, as an AHL call-up option" according to Scott Wheeler. I said I would do a 3rd and a 4th. Not far off here.

No retention and that's a pretty bad description for Thompson. I actually mentioned elsewhere before the trade that Thompson is exactly the type of player Sharks would target. He's worth a 2nd alone imo. Projects a lot closer to a middle pairing D

I'm sure you are a better prospect profiler than Scott Wheeler
