I think Dubas retains Guentzel at 50% and gets more than that.

not even close.
If your not going to pay to get the guy you want, don't bother making the trade.

This might be the worst one yet. Can someone explain to me why we all of the sudden need Debrusk?

Here is a better one for you, why is BOS trading him when they are headed to the playoffs?
They aren't moving DeBrusk.

He’s a cheaper, younger option compared to Guentzel who has played well with an elite center in the past. His overall efficiency metrics in terms of win shares are likely something that Pittsburgh would like to sign. .

I’d prefer the Bruins not to trade him, but I think his value is probably what fits here.

He is a UFA. He is a waste here. It’s literally us taking on his cap hit for free to give our 2nd best player away.

His 2.7 points share this season puts him between Smith and Graves on the Pens. Not exactly stellar company. I don't dislike him as a player, but I certainly don't want a rental. Maybe if Dubas retains 50% and sells him after the initial deal, otherwise absolutely not.

You assume you can’t sign him? We aren’t talking about purgatory here in Pittsburgh. He’s younger than Guentzel and probably considerably cheaper.

Your 2nd best player is likely going to leave in 4 months. If you were confident you were signing him, my guess is you’d likely be keeping him.

Maybe there is a scenario where Boston includes an actual one year and gone player in Forbort, Lysell, and a 2025 first for Lindholm and Raty. The open issue is I think there is a good chance they can just sign Lindholm if they are patient.

They want Lindholm for the playoffs, not to get him in the the offseason 🤦‍♂️

His wins above replacement percentage is in the 89th percentile. It’s not the only stat that shows complete play, but DeBrusk plays a 200 foot game very effectively and his finishing rate is down this year.

I’d prefer Boston keep him, but understand if he needs to be involved. I just don’t want to use two of my top 4 assets (Lysell, 2025 first) to secure a player I think I can get for cap space in July.

Also, you might want to look at Lindholm’s stat line if you are being over critical of DeBrusk. We aren’t trading for Guentzel. We are trading for Lindholm.

This deal, though, is an easy pass. It’s absurdly low for Pittsburgh. If Boston wants Lindholm for the playoff run, they need to make the deal better. AGM’s want to pretend there is blood in the water and Vancouver will give him up for nothing. That isn’t happening, but at the same time … the threat of him resigning in Vancouver seems low.

They are getting him as a long term asset. They went all in last year with three players they had no chance at signing. It’s known they aren’t giving away futures unless they plan on resigning the player long term. That’s one of the reasons they missed out the first time in trying to acquire Lindholm

Hard pass on this one. Return on Lindholm is underwhelming. I'd rather keep him and Canucks prospects.
