Nobody is giving up two firsts, a second and a good prospect for Guentzel. Absolutely not. Canucks would be fine to stop with the Boston trade.

Yeah, I don't see this happening. I know Lindholm hasn't been a great fit yet, but he could easily settle in on a line with Petey before the playoffs.

Jimmy always gets his man. At all costs. Also it would only be one first- the higher of the two.

JR seen Jake on the market and said, nope, I know what I want.

Wheeling and dealing.
Would not be surprised to see

PIT
Lekkerimäki
Lysell
2025 1st round pick (BOS)

VAN
Guentzel 50% retained.

if vancouver is getting lysell in return for lindholm, there's no chance a first is coming with it. it probably more or less stops at lysell.

gladly. it's very simple logic. that would be an unfair price for him when he was on calgary (though pretty close). now he's gone to a good team and sucked. if any of this is true, the team that picked him up is desperate to move him. you think they have leverage to get about as much as they paid if not more?

lets use your noggin a bit.

Use your noggin. He plays 3C in VAN limited ice time, and wrong role for a guy who is clearly at the least a 2C.
BOS needs a real center going forward.

BOS will pay the 1st.

oh a first is reasonable. a first and lysell is insanity.

again, show me where you're finding leverage on vancouvers side. he's sucked. they're desperate to move him.

try again.

Sweeney will just get a sign and trade for him to make it worthwhile. Lindholm will be worth it. He just needs a change of scenery.

Show me where you are finding leverage on BOS side?
You need a top 6 center.
Good luck finding that.
You will pay the 1st and Lysell.

Stop being a homer thinking you can get without giving.
You over here crying about a late 1st round pick like it has some grand value... it's not a top 10 pick.
It's a bottom 10 pick. Odds it even become an NHL player is less than 40%

right on schedule for the, "you disagree with me in a logical way....HOMER!"

here's the leverage: keep him. done.

lets start off with the basics here. deadline rentals don't get a first with a teams top two prospects. ever. disagree? give me one comparable. lets save some time though and just both agree that conceptually, that just does not happen in the NHL because it does not happen in the NHL.

now lets move onto this situation. vancouver wants to do something. they can't do it without boston, or some other team bailing them out of their mistake. Boston, and every other team has watched lindholm absolutely stink up the joint to the point where they are allegedly desperate to get rid of him. Here's how these sitautions tend to work: teams present vancouver with a lowball final offer, and walk away. If vancouver wants to go get guentzel, they take the deal. if they don't, they keep lindholm. Fin.

oh, and boston is doing just fine with the centers they have.....and lindholm is currently playing worse than all of them. and first round picks have value. weird that you don't know that.

sign and trades for UFAs aren't really a thing, and that contract SUCKS. that's fire sweeney territory. putrid. you realize people have seen him play the last year, right?

I called him a bust waiting to happen in the summer. Lindholm is EXACTLY the type of player that age declines horribly. The moment his physicality degrades the rest of his game that is predicated on it declines. Conroy was brain dead to offer that deal and lucky Lindholm didn't sign it or he would be Huberdeau 2.0. So if Sweeney signs him to that I would laugh.

friedman suggested he thought boston was in on lindholm but would only do a deal with an extension. presumably, the offer wasn't good enough for lindholm. my guess is it was 7x7. i think lindholm might have dropped himself from the 8x9 category to the 6x6 category.

He's played like an average 3C all year on two different teams now. I wouldn't sign him to more than a one year deal, but anyone willing to gamble on him deserves whatever comes. I just view him as a perfect example of a player that gets way overvalued by the eye test people when all the data is screaming age decline.
