Yah I could see Chychrun getting a young roster player, and a 1st, maybe even a little more, like you suggested. With retention, that’s where I see the asking price going up a bit, but overall, I think this is good!

Devils probably say no. They likely aren't really pushing this season and without being able to talk to Chychrun about an extension until July 1st I don't think they offer this kind of return for only a 1 season guarantee. This seems more like an offseason trade than a trade deadline one.

I think the trade is okay…would likely be some protection on the 1st. If we could out condition on it similar to LAK pick last year, maybe that would work. But if it had to be top-10 2024 backed by unconditional 2025, I’d wouldn’t.

And what happens if the pick is #9? That is the question. If we could protect it like LAK did last year, okay…if it flips to 2025 1st, no dice.
