Murphy is currently on IR and expecting a kid. I doubt the hawks move him this TDL unless he really wants out which I do not think is the case.

As others have said, 2.5 years of cap retention on Murphy would cost more than a third and a fringe roster player.

Every TOR fan wants Timmins dumped. He’s not an attractive RD for us to be pairing with our young, developing LD prospects. The return is basically a 3rd.

A third for 3 years of retention is absolutely not happening for a small market team, regardless of whether or not we hit the cap. Imagine how many players would all of a sudden be on incredible deals if it cost only a third rounder to compensate someone to do this.

Would a second cut it? No. Would a first? Honestly, not sure. The point is though, this doesn’t happen often for a reason.
