He's been great and Bear loves him. He's under contract at a reasonable price for another year, and he's even played center and not looked out of place. I'm not saying he's untouchable, but not sure why they would trade him for a second and a guy who I like but has an off-putting contract.

That’s an over pay forget the fact Dater is a total hack now and trading Ritchie for Henrique would be a disaster

I could see a Kerfoot trade happening, but it certainly won't be anything close to the one you have here. Wood just signed, and Kovalenko hasn't even played a game for the organization yet. Neither will be going anywhere. I think something more like Behrens and a 2nd with the Yotes also taking RyJo is more reasonable.

I’m an ANA fan. I had the same initial reaction to seeing Ritchie for Henrique.

That said, if the price is Henrique for a first (very reasonable considering the Lindholm/Monahan deals), is last year’s late 1st round pick all that much different from just offering this year’s late first rounder? Especially if a second is going back in return for the former? Wondering if it’s just the endowment effect for the reaction we both had, because Calum likely shouldn’t be seen as that much more valuable that a ‘24 1st right?

Button has Ritchie as a AA prospect and one of the best affiliated prospects in the entire league. You can make an argument he's too high on Ritchie, but it illustrates that he is more valuable than the 2024 1st, and probably by a lot tbh.

In my opinion, Ritchie is completely untouchable for a rental. He would only be made available a young and proven 2C. You guys have a bunch of those, but I don't think you want (or have and reason) to move them.

I doubt anyone is taking RyJo without a 2nd coming with him, and that would be with future considerations as the return. Kerfoot has 35 points in 60 games, he’s good value, this would basically be Kerfoot for Behrens straight up and there’s no way Arizona does that

Hell no to both of those trades.

In addition to the points made by the esteemed Anus above, Ritchie dropped considerably lower than he probably would have had he not sustained a shoulder injury. I think the Avs may have gotten a steal there and it's unlikely anybody available to the Avs late in the '24 draft will be any better than Ritchie and it's possible won't even be close.

Got it. I haven’t watched him at all so I wasn’t familiar, and remembered him being in like the 70s for the NHLs mid-season too 100 (by no means accurate) so was just wondering. Thanks for the feedback! In general it’s probably better for COL to trade away futures that are farther out from the NHL as well even if they were considered equal 👍

Your last sentence is on point. I'd much rather they lose picks than guys who look like they'll contribute sooner than later.

Kerfoot hasn't been consistent enough in his career to justify much more. He's a good player, but he's not quite top six on a Cup team, and he's not really in the mould of a bottom six player either. That hurts his value a good amount in my eyes.

I think everyone knows what he is now, a bottom 6 Swiss Army knife, it’s even how we’re using him. I think there’s good value in that, I don’t think there’s value in that for Colorado who would need him to be the 2C he’s not, which is why I’m confused by the rumored interest.

That's why ì would only pay what I would pay. He's not a 2C, and the Avs have a lot of bottom six players. He also doesn't really fit with what the current bottom six is structured to do.

The only way it makes sense is if they're thinking he might be able to carry the load between two strong wingers. He might, but that's a big gamble if giving up significant assets.

If they were going the “throw two strong wingers with him and pray” route I would think Bjugstad is the better fit honestly. Either way, not much of a fit, I’m very surprised you guys didn’t get Monahan
