Oilers trade makes no sense if they don't want Brown using space he just gets waived.

Would come down to whether Edm would want to pay him his full NHL salary to play in Bakersfield. But true if they are willing to eat the salary then treue enough they can save the 7th round pick. If not, Ottawa likely offers Brown a PTO in the offseason.

I figured the Canes because they were really interested in him before the season. He's had a great season and I can see why the Canes want him. Canes have a small group up front, Tarasenko has some power forward in his game and can still be productive. If Ottawa retains 50% of his cap they are likely wanting a late 1st and a solid prospect. I think it's a fair offer. Players like Tank will be going for similar packages.

Canes don’t trade 2nd or good prospects for rentals needless to say this package. We were interested when he would take a 1 x 3.5 million deal. He is a poor fit stylistically and not worth spending good assets to acquire

According to Bruce, the Canes are one of many teams that have asked about him. I also agree Carolina doesn't like to pay big at the deadline.... But if they do want Tarasenko? This would likely be the package it takes to acquire him.

Canes ask about anyone. If that’s the deal for him, he’ll go elsewhere. Canes wouldn’t move Koivunen alone for rental tank

Fair enough, but based on what's being said up here, Tank will go for a top prospect and 2nd rounder..... or Ottawa will retain 50% and it will be a late 1st rounder and a top prospect. I do agree though that the Canes are usually pretty stingy at deadline time. Maybe this is the year they go all-in? There was a rumour Colorado offered their 1st rounder & O. Olausson.... roughly the equivalent.

Even though it would only be $600k, I'm not sure the Jets do that. It's just a wasted roster spot this year and next with that NMC.

It would be a scenerio where Winnipeg might want a veteran for the PK at dirt cheap, and playoff experience for a run this season. They could definitely find better for sure, but if at last minute they're looking for a guy willing to block shoits and throw the odd bodycheck? Hamonic would be an option but again only if for $600K

Inclined to agree.... However guys that can move the puck at the deadline the price often goes up at this time of the year. Buty definitely agree it could end up being a 3rd rounder.

The problem is next year as Hamonic's NMC means no waivers and no minors, so the Jets would have to incur dead cap by buying him out in the offseason or waste a roster slot on him.

Remove Koivunen or replace him with a worse prospect and the Canes think about it.
