Someone will offer us a 1st for Tanev. He would have been traded a couple weeks ago if we were willing to accept that.

Can't see Vegas trading for Hanifin, they want to add a forward

I think Hanifin is a good target for Vegas with Martinez departing but maybe they take a run in the off season. The closer we get to the deadline the less optimistic I am about Tanev and a 1st. I think they Flames target a guy to slide into the roster right away and maybe a lower pick. I hope you're right though.

Don’t mind the Hanifin return, but I’m confident Hanifin wants to be in the Eastern Conference. I’m hoping we get an even better return from either FLA or NJD for Hanifin

I like Dellandrea but not Stranges. Would prefer to Target Bourque even if we have to add or take a bad contract back (Dadonov or Faksa), otherwise better DAL Targets are Arcuri, Gavin White, Feharas or Minnetian instead of Stranges, who isn’t any better than Rory Kerins

If we’re going for Hanifin it’ll be as a FA after Marty’s contract comes off and the books and it doesn’t cost assets. Eichel should be able to talk him into it if that’s what he and the team is looking for

I don't see much reason to lose hope on that. Contenders are the ones who get desperate, and this years draft being "less strong" will make teams more willing to spend 1sts. On top of that the market is pretty dry in terms of quality to add, especially on the blue line. I'm pretty skeptical of Calgary trading Markstrom but I'm confident we will get a strong return for Hanifin as well as probably a 1st for Tanev.

As for Vegas, yes they may lose Martinez this summer but you are asking them to trade another one of their top 6 defensemen out in this deal. I would say its more likely they just let Martinez go so they can keep both Marchessault and Stephenson, then just move Theodore back to his natural side and promote Korczek to a full time NHL role.

There is absolutely zero chance Dallas would make any of their top maybe 5 prospects available for Tanev. Especially not Bourque or Stankoven. I could see Christian Kyrou being available though. If we were trading them Hanifin instead and he was willing to extend with them I could see them making Bichsel available but still not Bourque or Stankoven

You are probably better off trading Korczek then because he's probably never going to get a chance with Piet, Shea, and Whitecloud down the right side

On a side note, Weegar - Theodore would probably one of the funniest pairing if they both made team Canada as both would probably play off hand

Bourque is a pipedream that only comes with Hanifin retained, possibly sending assets back and an extension. Stranges and Kerins aren't the same.. Kerins is near or at his ceiling, Stranges is an elite skater with every tool you're looking for in a prospect just waiting for him to put it together.

Kyrou’s no good - pass on him. Maybe you missed where I said even if we had to add or take a cap dump back to get it done

I get Stank & Bischel are likely untouchable, but Bourque might not be, otherwise I named the other prospects I think we should have interest in that fit our depth needs

Stranges is projected to be a Minor League call up. Where did you see he has these attributes you say he does!?

I repeat, Conroy could add something for Bourque and/or take back Faksa or Dadonov back to help get it done

We would have to add quite a lot lol. As for taking back a cap hit, that really doesn't come close to getting us to either of those prospects. Not to mention there is a very legitimate chance that we are on Dadonov's NTC and a somewhat decent chance we are on Faksa's.

I think Bourque is significantly less available than Bichsel though. Just because Bichsel was drafted using a higher pick does not make him a better prospect. Simply put Bichsel is just a big man. he has very little offensive ability but can probably develop into a decent defensive d-man. Likely more of a 3rd pair guy though

Even just look at the NHL expectancy, start of the year he was ranked top ten in the Stars system.

Not in a Tanev deal he can't unless you're adding Calgary's 2024 picks which would be weird asset management.

The only reason Stranges has a higher NHL certainty is because he played in the AHL more last season. Both him and Kerins are similar caliber prospects though. If you click the expanded observations you would see that neither has really been updated since at earliest October. Kerins literally only has 2 observations wrote about him, hence only 2 points on the graph creating a straight line

I see DAL needing Bischel more given Suter should be done with them soon and given they already have Johnston & Stank and a fantastic forward group, maybe there’s no room Bourque

IOW - DAL has less depth at LD than they do Forwards

Mangiapane is the kind of player teams love to add for the playoffs, complete workhorse. Casual fans look at that one season and say "he must be a goal scorer and now he just sucks" but he's never been a natural goal scorer. All of his goals that year came from putting in 110% effort every game. On a team that is extremely talent heavy he will score goals though because he has a high hockey IQ and can get to openings. Brandon Hagel on Tampa is a very similar player in that sense, just with a stronger cast around him. I think we end up hanging on to him this year but I do think we need to look to make a spot for Pelletier in the top 9 soon

I think Dallas is very likely to let Duchene walk this summer and promote both Bourque and Stankoven in his place

Kerins looks to be the most promising to me still, so I give him the edge and Kerins will likely develop better on the Wranglers given the available opportunities he’ll be given compared to Stranges who’s stuck behind Stank, Bourque, Arcuri and a few others on their AHL Team

We will agree to disagree, that's all good. I think Stranges' tools are better and whether they are similar calibre now or not my thought was about acquiring the upside which I think is significantly higher than Kerins.

I bet they try to re-up Duchene and although not impossible, I see the probability of Hanifin going to DAL being the same as him going to TOR. Only benefit of going to DAL is less income taxes, but it also keeps him in the Western Conference

Pavelski’s the more likely one to walk. He’ll be 40 in July

I really don't think it's as much about the East vs West as it is about the US. Dallas is a well situated team with good weather and as you mentioned, no state tax. A lot of players fine that pretty desirable. He might waive to Toronto for the playoffs but I think he's more likely to accept an extension in Arizona than he is in Toronto.

Pavelski may retire but he's still producing quite well at his age. As long as he is doing that I think he will remain in Dallas. Duchene will be expensive to re-sign, probably 6.5M+. All the reports are Dallas wants to add to their defense and they really can't do that if they are going to pay Duchene that much next year
