MTL passes
We'll put Arber back in Laval if need be
Or sell Savard and Kovacevic before we'd give away Harris for nothing

I'm not saying Habs wouldn't make a move with the Kings, but I think they'd be asking for a 2nd round pick, not a 4th for Harris.

Especially if LAK add Englund to the trade. Being 28 and still not having your regular solid NHL legs under you isn't a good thing. With another year on top of his contract, while 400K$ less than Harris, I see Hugues waiting on another option than taking this on. Harris is still young and in full development right now, in 2 years he'll have surpassed his worth by the looks of it and would be worth more than a 4th.

How do you plan to keep Harris on the roster for 2 more years?

Well that a general question that has absolutely no context in which team keeps Harris, or what is actually being asked ... But I'll try it here..

As a general question about how to keep a player for a few more years: Harris has a year left.. Then he becomes an RFA hence you have the ability to sign an extension with the player, trade his right away or just cut ties with him, but he, unfortunately, is tied to the team who will own his RFA rights so he can't just sign with another team without a consequence if the player is approached by other teams, the current team can gets compensated for the "hostile offer" depending on the contract situation and will get picks etc.

I mean.. Everybody knows that..

If you're asking more specifically how the Habs plan to keep him on their roster.. Well.. Like I indicated above, he has one more year at 1.4M$ which Habs have the cap space. They also have many Defensemen that have two way contracts so they can keep them in Laval for development until such time they have a spot for them.

Another way of looking at it is that TDL is coming up, so Savard has been getting attention, I'm not saying he'll be moved, but given the right offer, Hugues may pull the trigger, hence a spot on the roster to finish this year, then you have off season trades, Draft Day trades etc etc etc that can come in and move Harris out, or just keep him if he's needed ..

I never said Habs would keep Harris for the next two years, but next year they can, until an appropriate deal is made and they have the RFA with him so...

If he goes to the Kings with a reasonable return, then they can keep him for how many years they see fit starting with next year then extension...

How many years are you going to keep Xhekaj, Struble, Hutson, Mailloux, Reinbacher, etc out of a roster spot/playing time for their development to keep Jordan Harris on the roster?

Why do you think its so hard to keep Harris on the roster and not develop other guys?

There's just no point in Montreal trading him for a 4th and a veteran depth piece anytime soon. They've got plenty of other options.

Only so many roster spots and only so much ice time to go around.

Habs aren't trading Jordan Harris for that, and they shouldn't.

Why trade for Lindgren and send Cam Talbot back the other way?

Kaliyev for Harris or Lindgren makes sense. The rest of this doesn't.
