Why would Florida convert a developing draft success and current NHL middle-6 center on a team which needs virtually nothing into two stabs in the dark and a disappointment?!?

You should at least try to make a fair deal. A late 1st? A player that probably wouldn't crack the starting lineup in FLA? Start by replacing that with the MTL 1st, and then a top prospect etc.

A top 10 pick and a top prospect for a guy on pace for under 40 points???

If you think the original post is an undervaluation that’s fine, but Montreal. Is not giving up a top 10 pick and a top prospect for a guy who looks like he is best suited as a 3C.

Lundell will be a 2C version of Barkov. And that type of player is what every good team needs. That potential is worth at least a top 10 pick and a top prospect.

Both of you, are wrong.

Lundell wasn't even a top10 pick. He doesnt have the upside to warrant that price, of course and the Cats will be under a cap crunch BUT they wont give him away.
You're talking about a mid 1st like the 2025 Calgary pick and a prospect like Owen Beck whom could be a Lundell.

The already established NHL'r usually goes for a prototype of the same caliber of player and a pick to weigh the risk of the prospect not working out.

I am not sure I would even do Beck + the Calgary pick (if it lands in the middle of the first round), but that is a heck of a lot closer than a top 10 pick in the draft and a "top prospect" for Lundell that was suggested.

That guy is overly dramatic! To say a top10 pick plus a top prospect... I thought I was going overboard with the Flames 1st and Jets 1st picks in a package for Lundell and had a bunch of Leafs fans tell me it was 'far too much' for Lundell and I'm a massive Lundell fan but a trade likely only happens if the Panthers are dead set on resigning Montour and Reinhart leaving them with little money left to resign an RFA like him.
