Doubt Briere wants Hendricks. Add substantially more as Laughton isn't a rental so that retention will cost quite a bit.

Overpay on both. Having both Laughton and Goodrow is a recipe for disaster. Neither are good players and have negative impacts on the ice. Those problems will compound if they are on the same line.

Goody is a solid defensive choice, from what I have seen so is Laughton... I feel that Eberle will go for that price... the 1st in next years draft will be a late one. A 6th is a 6th... I feel we might as well trade Robertson since he will not play for NY so in the interest of his career we should trade him...

Given NYR are division rivals, not sure Briere would even consider the deal in the first place. If he did, I'd ask for Perreault for Laughton with that retention is worth the risk and compare it to other offers. I can understand that being too much for Drury so at minimum the 2026 1st and 3rd with the 2024 2nd. Like I said, Briere might not even consider an in division rival unless substantial overpayment.

The only stat he stayed consistent with was the PK which he was only 5%... NYR do NOT need to pay a premium to obtain an underperforming player. He is literally another Goodrow at his current rate (although the retention in the trade helps). Having Goodrow already, NYR should not spend assets to obtain a second one.

You must be out of your mind asking for Perreault for Laughton... would be if we would ask for your top prospect for Goodrow at 50% retention...

Your Laughton price is what you should pay for Eberle and you shouldn't target Laughton period.

Eberle is not worth a 1st and our best D-prospect. I really think just a 1st would do for him.

The Laughton trade doesn't make sense for either team. I just don't envision PHI selling

When you ignore context that I explicitly prefaced this with, then I can see why you think that way. I already said Briere might demand an overpayment to make the deal with Drury, emphasis on OVERpayment. I personally think Laughton is a waste to target and largely overpaid for his contributions, but NHL GMs like Drury often make erroneous decisions.

look I'm a NYR fan and even I say he's been horrible this year. He's dropped off the face of the earth from the prior two years.

an overpayment would be Zac Jones... you went full crazy by asking for Perreault. Imagine if Philadelphia wanted Goodrow @50% and NYR said they wanted Gauthier (before he was traded to Anaheim). That's essentially what your suggestion was.

1. Zac Jones carries little value as he is 23 and not excelling in the NHL. Every team has a Zac Jones and few of them develop into anything worthwhile.
2. Goodrow is a liability. While I am not a huge fan of Laughton, his perceived value is much higher.
3. Gauthier was a much more valuable prospect than Perreault has been. Generally, prospect rankings from shortly before the trade had Gauthier well ahead of Perreault by a good 15-25 spots. So yet again, your valuations are wildly inaccurate.

1) He's blocked in the NHL by Lindgren, Miller & Gus
2) Both players are liabilities and are both overpaid. Kindof a wash here.
3) Yes Gauthier has the higher pedigree right now, but he's also a year older and Perreault is outperforming him this year. Gauthier as a freshman had 37 points in 32 games, Perreault has 48 points in 29 games. Perreault is rising VERY fast

That's the tmz narrative, even our own fanbase are stat watching now lol. All I see is him shutting people down with aggressive forcheck & backcheck with him & Trouba leading the physical way. He's gold with Vesey. Now Vesey is up and he's still going & leading our 2 giant newbie kids with him.
His cap may have to go next year but he will leave a big hole.

Just to expand on Perreault now, Button just released his top 50 nhl affiliated prospects and Perreault was in the same rank as Gauthier (AA) with Gauthier being ranked 1st and Perreault 7th. My "wildly inaccurate" valuations aren't so wild.
