multiple things.

1. No to Raanta, i imagine they'd resign Ned or bring up Blomqvist who's been having a really strong year in the A
2. Wennberg isn't taking that deal.
3. Sprong didn't work here, not sure it would this time.
4. Beauvillier, no
5. idk that Debrusk would work.

Pens can target some better pieces in the offseason than this and I would fully anticipate that Smith isn't on the roster (and maybe even Rakell).

So I will rebuttal because the comment about targeting better pieces is the point. Pens pay more and have poor depth again.

If Blomqvist can make the leap, that's fine. Pens will still need a 3rd goalie. Raanta might be a buy low target.

I highly doubt Wennberg is going to a get a much larger deal. He's a career 30 pt guy. Maybe a premium being a center and finally playing PK when he never has before.

You say Spring didn't work before but was 20 years old! That's a terrible take imo

Beau is a bounce back candidate. Great skater. Is a +3rd line guy.

Obviously if they can free up more cap with Smith or RR, that changes things but only Smith seems a contract they could move off.

Sprong averaged under 10 minutes a night in Pittsburgh and was 21 when we traded him. He wasn't exactly given an opportunity to work here.
Now he's a fully established NHLer with a track record of providing great depth scoring.

I don't think Sullivan cares. He isn't the kind of player Sullivan likes so he'll go back to 10 min per night. Pass.

He was very immature in PIT and frankly burned every bridge here.
He was a moody little kid who thought he was the next best thing to sliced bread, When he got the the NHL level and got his "chance" as limited as you say it was, is because he was back checked to the ice constantly and shoved all over the ice.
Maybe, big maybe too since people don't change, being bounced around from team to team has humbled him. But there is no place for him here. Period. He will never play here again. He burned those bridges and when he was told to put up or shut up, he bombed out. Don't blame that on the staff or his opportunity or whatever. They tried to work with him, tell him he wasn't ready, and prepare him for the next level. He didn't want to listen.

I think this is an unreasonable amount of vitriol against the guy for what amounted to like half a season's worth of games as a Penguin 6 or 7 years ago. The teenager playing in the highest tier hockey league in the world needed to mature a little? Color me surprised.
"People don't change", "No place for him here", do you hear yourself? I genuinely have no idea how anyone can be that pessimistic over this.

half a season.... he was with the team for over a whole year.
He had a serious attitude problem, which was well documented. Somehow you think people with attitude problems magically change... but anyone with real world experience knows that's most likely not true. As I said, maybe being bounced around humbled him.... maybe.
As for the "no place for him here" yes I do hear myself. Do you HEAR YOURSELF?
Why would an organization who put up with this guy who was nothing but a didn't listen pain in the ass ever want him back????
You realize how many players have got tossed off teams burned their bridge and will never return. Here is a clue, it's a list whole lot longer than Sprong. So why do you think he is SOOOOOO special that those same things wouldn't apply to him with all the bridges he burned?

What I see in your comment is someone who doesn't know a damn thing about a player and his time with his former team.... trying to grand stand and looking like an idiot doing it.
Hell if you even knew anything about the coach and their issues with a list of players, Cole, Kessel, etc... you would know Sprong is NEVER coming back to PIT. Ever.
But go on grand standing like you know something. It's amusing.
