Joseph is not a throw in though, he easily has the value of a 2nd himself.

I think you’re probably right but I’m kinda low on Lapierre and really low on AA.

+ the 2nd is only if Joseph is included.

Also, fwiw last time I made an offer for him I got cooked by Sens fans who thought I was lowballing 😅

Yea I included the 2nd specifically for Joseph.

I’m guessing Sens would still want to move him this off-season to make space for a Pinto extension, right?

We actually don't want to move him anymore but for this return I'd include him in the Chabot trade.

I wouldn't wanna move Joseph but would consider a Chabot trade around that 1st rounder. How about Chabot for the 2024 1st and Iorio?

Joseph alone would be worth an early 2nd / late 1st at the deadline. 50 pt pace 2nd line winger who is excellent defensively and on the pk.
Not worth it at all for Ottawa. The only enticing piece is the 1st round pick.

I don't think Ottawa moves him. At 2.95mil you aren't getting a player of his quality at that price. Ottawa's got a bunch of money coming off the books this summer, with Tarasenko coming off, and Hamonic definitely getting bought out. Not to mention buyouts/retained salary going from a 5mil cap hit to a -625k hit. Even including the Sanderson extension, the sens will have a bunch of money to work with, though they'll have a lot of work to do. You definitely don't move Joseph to free up 3mil when he's giving you the value of a 5mil player.

I agree with that. I just didn’t realize how high the caps first would be until the last couple weeks of them losing. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a top 8 pick again. If it was a 2025 first I’d do it though

I'd still do the trade if it was a 2025 1st or a 18-22 pick this year.

That would work for me. I’m expecting the caps to continue to drop in the standings but be back in the playoffs next year (copium I know) so a pick next year is much more palatable imo.

It is way way more valuable to have Joseph than a 2nd though

No, it would be extremely stupid to move him. His speed, PK ability, 2-way play and tenacity is way more valuable than his modest 2.95 AAV

They can afford Pinto's extension EASILY

Cap is rising, 5 M$ in dead money expire, Tarasenko and Kubalik are UFAs (7.5 AAV)...

Exactly

I'd do Chychrun for the 1st and that's it. I'm not trading Chabot and Joseph

Hendrix Lapierre would instantly become our best prospect and TVR is a solid RHD which we could use.

I'm not open to trade one of Chychrun or Chabot (preferably Chychrun) but we absolutely should not trade Joseph. Getting Lapierre is interesting but if you're remove Joseph, you're offsetting that

The main part of this trade is the Caps 1st which will probably end up in the 11-15 range.

I'd do Chychrun or Chabot (to appease the fanbase I guess, lol) for that pick, but would leave out Joseph out of the trade. We need more players like Joseph, not less
