You are either pandering to the 3 above champions of Blues Homers or you are not at all up to speed on Parayko's effectiveness. This is a massive massive overpay for a guy who very clearly isn't a #1 defenceman. He's not a #2. He's more like a #4 on a contender. Maybe a #3. But Parayko has only been really good when Bouwmeester and Pietrangelo where still good and on the Blues. Since then, he's been for long stretches, average or below average with some slightly above average play this year. He's not worth anywhere close to this, especially when you consider term and cap hit.

I honestly don't even know if he's a homer. It seems like he never actually talks about his own team. He just makes up long, clueless, aggressive monologues about other teams and pretends it's an established fact and that everyone who doesn't go along is a big beer goggles dummy. That's literally all I know about him. I don't recall any of his commentary about the Leafs. I have no idea who he thinks should be traded or what he thinks their prospects are worth. No clue.

I’m sure you say Binnington sucks too, so please explain to me why a mostly not good team is where it is in the standings if Parayko plays the most minutes on the team and the majority of said team is average or below besides a few Thomas, Kyrou, Buch…

TO isn't as good of a team as they should be. Part of it is the coach and the rest management. We all knew this blueline needed additions and Treliving picked Klingberg. But for the purposes of this conversation, Giving up all these assets for Parayko is wasteful and silly. He's not that good. He's a 2nd pair defenceman in a perfect world and yon don't pay that 6.5 million. Especially until the age of 37 or whatever he's signed to.

As for St Louis' record, never trust a heater when your team has been mediocre for most of the season and last 2. It's a mirage. They just lost 4-1 to a team that has a paper thin blueline and a bad bottom 6.

I don’t think Parayko is a number 1. I also don’t think Morgan Reilly is a number 1. If Parayko was on the Leafs, you would be a lot better currently. Blues aren’t trading him so none of this matters.

Nope the Leafs would be the same. Parayko isn't a difference maker, he'd either play shot gun to Rielly and look better than he does in St Louis but it would be entirely due to Rielly being a better player. But it wouldn't make TO any closer to being a contender. They need either an actual top pair RD and a true shutdown LD who can help Liljegren reach his potential. Once again Parayko isn't either of those. For a very minor improvement, you shouldn't be spending a 1st along with Minten and Niemela plus the rest. Especially considering the term and cap hit are excessive for a guy who likely is best situated on the 2nd pair with a better player.

Can’t wait to see you cry when Parayko is on team Canada and Rielly isn’t.
