I really dislike the Kampf/RyJo swap. You basically replace problem with a longer one. Kampf may be better suited for his role, but $2.4M is too much to pay for a 4C.

One of the perks of the RyJo gamble was that he only had one extra year of term. After next season, you need cap space for Rantanen’s mega-extension and whatever happens with Byram. You can get a 4C for $1-1.5M cheaper, which gives you more breathing room to keep your core under contract.

I actually have him moving to 3C next season and colton moving to 2LW. I think between woody and oconnor, kampf would be more than capable to provide us a competent 3C role.

Kampf has never been more than a 4C. You need to 3C to give you 35ish pts and he caps out in the high 20's. I'd avoid his contract personally. He's the type of player you replace pretty easily and cheaply when its time for them to hit the market.

Btw, if Colton is jumping up into the top 6, who is dropping out?

Rantenen will not make more then mackinnon. Rantenen will be in the 11 million range but by then the cap will be at 92 million

Highly doubt Georgiev is coming back. LOC shouldn't even be alot. Byram would be gone by then ryjo cap is off the books. By that time Ritchie will most likely be ready for 2nd center spot. Colton and wood are already under contract. Kovalenko will still be on his entry contract I believe

Landeskog is most likely not coming back

The above leaves them with 5 mil in cap next year (simply because you can't just say 'Landy won't be back'), with no 2C, two bottom 6 slots to fill, 1 D, back up G and 3 scratches. So that 5 mil WILL be spent and the Avs WILL be up against the cap in a worse position with less assets to find a 2C. I'd love Ritchie to be ready the following year but that's a huge IF. RyJo's cap becomes irrelevant anyway, Kampf's hit is still there. Byram may or may not be and needs extending if he is. So the Avs then have 4-5 mil to sign a starting G, extend Rants, Bo & LOC as well as Malinski & Kovalenko. Plus any others.
