Leafs might give you a first if risto is half retained but that’s it and I pray we sell instead of spending the first just maybe don’t sell to the leafs for the next little bit we’re just as likely to sell as you guys are but obviously leafs decline this as is

It can certainly be Phillys 1st too. But basing it off an Eichel like trade

    1st + 2nd

Then 2 young players. Frost or Brink is what Tuch is. But Frost and Brink are better than Krebs.

Zegras isnt Eichel. so 1st + 2nd + 2 young NHL players. Frost a 2C at best, 3C at worst right now. Brink progressing as well as a rookie right now

IF we had Trevor Zegras on the market, and I don't believe for a second that we do, I think it would take Oliver Bonk instead of Morgan Frost and the earlier of your two 2024 firsts, not the later, to close the deal.

In what make-believe universe is Morgan Frost "almost as good" as Trevor Zegras? He has fewer than 2/3 the points in exactly the same number of games despite Z's having been injured for all but 5 games this season, and has never had even a 50-point season and won't have one this year whereas Z had two 60-point-plus seasons already. And to reflect impact, Z has 3 overtime goals and 6 other game-winning goals and Frost is zero and four in those departments.

    I based it off of

    https://www.thefourthperiod.com/feb-2024/teams-circling-on-laughton

"Speaking with other teams, the ballpark figure for Ristolainen is in and around $3.5 million; that would require 30% retention on the Flyers’ part. While the Flyers rather not, they are willing to do so, although locking up another retention spot (in addition to Kevin Hayes) long term will come at a cost. Making Ristolainen a $3.5 million defenseman for three-plus seasons is a good deal for an acquiring team, especially with the cap expected to be north of $90 million by 2025-26.

If a team wants Ristolainen at that number, I was told it will take “at least” a first round selection to make the deal worth it for the Flyers. With a deal being so complicated in season, those I’ve spoken with feel it’s unlikely Ristolainen will be moved before the Trade Deadline. Given the contract, a deal in the summer with the increased cap, but it is still something to keep an eye on."

What are you talking about?!? Frost AND Brink together aren't what Alex Tuch was at the time he was traded by Las Vegas. Tuch had 255 NHL games on his resume (including a scoreless 6-game skate-around with Minnesota) and Frost and Brink now have 248; Tuch had 61 goals and 139 points while Frost and Brink have 41 and 116, respectively. (Plus the first was 16th overall.)

Now don't get me wrong -- neither I nor any other Anaheim stalwart contends that the Eichel trade is a comparable for what Zegras should get because Eichel was and is a far superior player. But I think that the alternative deal I've proposed (Brink, Bonk, Philly 2024 first, Anaheim 2025 second) is fair value for Zegras given his age and contract status.

Typo, meant to say Frost or Brink isn't what Tuch is. very much agree

I think the deal if it could happen would have to be Frost + instead of Brink +. If its Frost + Bonk + PHI 1st(12-16 range probably now) + 2nd. Would do that.

Risto is actually a pretty good #4/#5. Very different than what he was like in buffalo. Just took all the offense out of him and made him decent as a defenseman. Now 3.5 mil. a good contract for what he is playing at right now. Now with us not re-signing hart. Retaining 2.5 mil rather than 1.6 mil. Can be possible

We're not looking for a bottom-6 center in a Zegras deal since we already have Carlsson and McTavish on the first two lines (assuming that we don't win the lottery). We're looking for a top-6 RW prospect, which Brink is despite his size, and a top-4 RhD prospect, which Bonk is.
