Slafkovsky, Reinbacher, or MTLs 24 1st is the core of the trade, a grab bag of spare parts doesn't get it done.

Once again worthless late 1st and wortless players doesn't get you Trevor Zegras, just give it he's not going to Montreal. Zegras tells Montreal to take a flying leap.

We're only asking for one of those prospects, not two, and only one first-round draft pick, not two -- your own 2024 first. If you don't want to give it up, fine, we'll take the Calgary pick plus David Reinbacher.

Yeah kovacevic is any better than what TB has would be a regular black ace and TB spending it's limited draft capital for a guy to watch from the press box is senseless.

Calgary won't be trading anything for Harris. Buffalo won't be trading anything for washed up Savard either.

A) caufield is miles better than zegras

B) caufield isn't on the trade block

By what objective standard is Caufield any better -- not miles better, ANY better -- than Zegras?

He's no better defensively.

He's never had a 60-point-plus season; Zegras has had two.

His career PPG is 0.716; Zegras' is 0.73.

He's even more offensively one-dimensional than Zegras, as evidenced by the fact that Zegras has more than twice as many assists as Caufield.

Oh, by the way: News Flash -- Zegras isn't on the trade block. We out here are a lot closer to the Anaheim team than the East Coast clickerbaiters are.

A) This is the first season Caufield will outplay Zegras (who’s been injured for the vast majority), he’s midget sized, and plays wing instead of center. He’s a great piece don’t get me wrong, but to pretend his value is materially different is silly.

B) it’s only unreliable media members (the same one who said Gibby played his last game in ANA) who get paid for clicks saying Verbeek has listened to offers. Verbeek has a need for scoring top 6 wingers and Z is on a good multi-year deal that ends with him an RFA. Don’t kid yourself if you think there’s any lost leverage here to get anything other than a blue chip asset in return IF they decided to trade him

There’s good value here. But quantity does not equal quality, and ANA’s needs are top 6 scoring wing and #1RD. None of this addresses that. Slaf, Rein, or the ‘24 MTL 1st (only when the pick is up to be sure there’s a Verbeek ‘my guy’ available) would be considered as the principal piece in return

This is the funny part with MTL fans. They’d absolutely berate this offer for Caufield, but somehow think it’s a gross overpay for Zegras. Even if you prefer CC over Z (which I definitely don’t personally, but I can understand a minority of people doing so), there’s no way you could act like their value is materially different, and that’s being generous to Cole as an undersized winger who’s been outperformed every year until now.
