Sabres are not trading all that to have 3 months window to sign 30 yrs UFA to massive deal.

The reason I thought he made sense was because news came out that Sabres have way too many young players ready to play and cannot accommodate them all. Might as well move some and get a massive player.

I'm not saying Buffalo should do that deal but recognize that elite players don't come cheap. Guentzel is on a HoF trajectory, I suspect he will be elite for another 3 - 4 years then be very good for another 2 - 3. With a rising cap, 5 - 7 elite to very good years at 9MM is a bargain.
