Take It Or Leave It on Tanev

Description
Flames Fan Proposal

Let’s face it, Liljegren just isn’t trustworthy or reliable enough (he’s very possibly overrated) and most TOR Fans want Tanev, so here you go and perhaps Treliving can convince Tanev to sign a Team Friendly Extension to coincide with the Trade

Another alternative is to Swap Vladar and Samsonov instead of Calgary including the 5th + Boltmann and TOR having to pay for further retention from a 3rd Team. Vladar’s cheaper, signed to another year and Treliving may have more faith in him than Sammy

Otherwise, Calgary wants and needs a Centre Prospect, so now we’re talking Cowan or Minten. TOR Fans are always going on about how good Niemela is, so who cares about losing Liljegren, right!?

The Bottom Line is that if you want Tanev, Pay the Price or Go Fish! Flames’ll find a Better Pick/Prospect elsewhere otherwise

Leafs aren't giving that for a 33 year old defenceman who they can sign in the offseason.

Then Leafs aren’t set on competing for the Cup or advancing past the 1st/2nd Round yet again this season and that’s only if CGY, VAN or OTT or another Team doesn’t re-sign him before TOR come Free Agency

This team is multiple pieces away from competing for a cup this year. Spending a 1st on an aging UFA just makes no sense. I think Vancouver lands him and probably will retain him.

Flames might accept that from VAN or another Team, but not TOR. Treliving will have to pay extra for any Trade with the Flames

Flames are more interested in NHL Ready Centre’s & RD’s to continue competing and/or re-tooling than they are Picks/Futures. Picks, especially outside the Top-10, are simply lottery tickets and gambles. Tanev’s a sure thing

I think TOR’s window is closing. They’ll have to rebuild their D-Corp and fill Bert’s & Domi’s positions with league min players next season as well, so the time is now or never for the Leafs AFAIC

Go check our depth charts, we have 3 RD signed for next season and 0 LD. The reports are Conroy wants a 2nd and prospect for Tanev, so anyone's first would do the trick, I'd rather have torontos, it's likely going to be a better pick.

The leafs window is the Matthews contract. These next four years the management has to make shrewd moves. Shipping off a 1st for a 33 yo UFA isn't one of them.

Are any of them any good, trustworthy or reliable!? Liljegren isn’t and hasn’t been trusted in the playoffs, Timmins is injury prone and who’s the 3rd!? Tiny Niemela who has ZERO NHL Experience and will be sent to LTIR the first time he gets hit!? Or is the plan to re-sign Brodie and Klingberg!?

A 2nd + a Decent A-/B+ Prospect for Tanev with no retention, sure but TOR has to pay extra and doesn’t have any of those other than Cowan/Minten…

Yes, all the more reason to go all in. Pick won’t help you for 3-5 years from now. You’ll get them all back and then some when you Trade Matthews at the Deadline when he becomes a spending UFA anyways…

Getting Tanev isn't going "all in." He barely moves the needle. I have no problem with the Leafs moving their 1st, but not for a 33 y.o UFA.

He would be a difference maker on the Leafs and Oilers for sure, especially on the PK. He could be signed and play well for another 2-4 seasons past this one no problem AFAIC

You paid for ROR and let him walk. What’s the difference!?

He was a captain, Stanley cup winner and Conn Smythe winner. Him and Tanev aren't in the same conversation.

You’re just low on Tanev. It’s not like ROR did all those things by himself and yes, comparing a Top-9 Centre to a Top-4 Shut Down Defensemen who the majority of your fellow TOR Fans desperately want and make trade proposals for (1000x more than were likely made for ROR) is definitely a full conversation

Leafs decline this instantly in what world does tanev bring in more then lindholm oh I know in fairy tale land lol leafs wouldn’t move either of those pieces for a 50% retained tanev and you guys aren’t retaining period so you aren’t getting either of those pieces period if it costs a first to do business with the flames leafs will look elsewhere, have fun getting a 2nd and a no body prospect from the bruins or Canucks lol, and leafs pass on all vladar trades guy sucks and is far worse then Sammy, the most the leafs will offer will be robo, niemela, timmins abruzzese and 2 5ths for an unretained tanev which will be the best offer they get just wonder if they are dumb enough to turn that down, it easily has the value of at least a first

The majority of Leafs fans want to keep the 1st this year and avoid buying at the deadline. These Tanev proposals are largely fantasy. Flames aren't getting a 1st for him. If he was 4 years younger and a top 2 instead of a top 4 then he'll be worth whatever price Conroy demanded. But there's a reason teams haven't coughed what Conroy wants for the player. He's being overvalued by Flames fans and management.

Again, I think he'll most likely go to Vancouver for a 2nd +. That makes the most sense for the player too.

How's that more value then Lindholm brought back? We have half a dozen Abruzzese like players in our own system, and a bottom pairing defenseman is better?

lol what’s proposed here is probably 1/2 of what Lindholm brought

    VAN 1st + Brustewicz > TOR 1st + Liljegren

We’ll get a better 2nd piece than Liljegren elsewhere; I personally think he’s overrated and he himself doesn’t think he’s playing very good either, so…

Without retention, a 2nd in addition might work, but given the amount of interest, I’m sure a bidding war will translate in to a Chiarot type return

The tall heaping pile of garbage you proposed isn’t worth a 1st lol. Quantity doesn’t equal Quality. Heard that one before!?

Vladar => Samsonov. Treliving loves Vladar & Tanev; Samsonov & Liljegren = not so much

Keefe doesn’t like them that’s nothing to do with Brad I’m sure Brad likes them just fine, and Sammy>vladar easily what’s his last 15 games been compared to vladar I’m sure much better, lily is arguably just as good as tanev, will be better next year and is 10 years younger so their value isn’t remotely close leaf’s value lily at a 1st and he doesn’t leave for at least another 2 years and then they add to get pulock but he isn’t going anywhere he’s been our best RHD all year and Keefe should be putting him 1RD over Brodie who’s brutal now lily isn’t a true 1RD but he’s definitely a 2RD just like tanev this isn’t even remotely close leafs decline this instantly, if the leafs were gonna spend a 1st on tanev they woulda done it already sell him to Boston or Vancouver I can’t see him going to the leafs
