Those teams aren't giving up 1st round picks when those players can just be bought out. Toronto isn't giving up a 1st and Lilly to move Reaves laugh

Granlund has played 12 less games and has 11 more points than Johansen.
It's not a cap dump I'm assuming and there is retention included.

Burroughs isn't an upgrade on what TB has and with Lilleberg, Crozier, Thompson all NHL ready with Schmidt and Carlisle about 1 year away thanks but pass

Sure they could just buy them out, but they’ll tie up cap space over a longer period of time when all of the teams are built to win now.

Also, it’s not like the Sharks aren’t sending anything back in return. Each deal where the Sharks receive a 1st has good players going back to the other team.

Teams much prefer to deal and give up picks than to buyout big contracts long term. So yeah the likelyhood of a cap dump is way more than a buyout. And these are absolutely the prices to dump these contracts + get assets in addition.

And for the TOR one, are you looking at the deal at all? the 1st + Lilly is for Ferraro + Kunin. Not to dump Reaves. Reaves is just for the cap to even out. If any of these teams want to make deadline moves then they'll need to move these contracts, and you can't buyout a guy halfway through the season
