They have no use for a backup goalie.

They really need to rehab him and flip him because that buyout is brutal, it's 6 years long. It would take more than a 1st just to move him alone.

While I don't see any way that a Kane trade currently works for the Caps, should be important to note the Caps nearly signed him before Edmonton got him.

this is true, but Kane decided to speak very poorly about the Caps after they did not take a flyer on him...he burned some bridges.
