Description

These are sort of the general consensus teams that might be in the market for a center. I put together a package I'd be very happy to see from each team potentially for Monahan (not saying he's gonna get this but it would be a really good return). I think the base acquisition cost for Monahan will be a 1st round pick but the team that's gonna get him will be the team that adds a sweetener to the trade such as a depth forward prospect and/or a late pick.

Modeled after the Jets trades for Statsny (1st, Foley, 4th) and Hayes (1st, Lemieux, 4th) at previous trade deadlines.

Now do I think this will happen, no probably not. First of all, if MTL wanted a depth forward they could have just claimed Ruzicka off waivers and he is arguably better than all of the players/prospects included in the trades below. 2nd, maybe no one steps up and offers much for Monahan because they know Hughes is playing with house money (already acquired a 1st for taking Monahan last season). Maybe the one team that does get him is the team that steps up and pays a 1st and that's the sweetener right there. Either way, this is just for fun, it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Edit: Yes I'm aware of the actual trade, made this team last night and sharing to see how it compares.

If they are decent prospects that wasn't the intention, more so depth guys that could maybe be 4th line. As I said in the description, I don't think this would even happen because if Hughes wanted he simply could have claimed Ruzicka off waivers and he's better than every guy listed in my opinion.

Then you have the 4th vs the conditional 3rd. Yeah it's pretty close. Again as I said the base cost is a 1st round pick and whatever team adds a sweetener will probably get Monahan, turns out the sweetener is a conditional pick, which is likely nothing in the end but a 4th round pick usually amounts to nothing anyways too.
