I like the Matheson trade a lot but it'd have to be made at next year's TDL or even in the summer considering our tight management of retention slots. If we're using another multi year retention it means we have only 1 left next TDL with guys like Savard, Dvorak, Allen and Armia on expiring deals which is not great.

I certainly dont think its absurd. You have to realize 2nd round picks have a 30% chance of playing 100 games in the nhl. Robertson is well on his way to 100 games, he'll be a top 6 forward in his prime. He could go for a 1st round pick. Look at the toffoli trade for sherangovich. Robertson is on pace to have more points than sherangovich did last year and he's three years younger. Is Tanev better than Toffoli? Dont think so...
