NJD don't take 4.2 m cap hit just because the Isles have cap issues. Two good NHLers (Leafs) for four maybes? No thank you

Just to get Nylander alone, without Kadri you'd need to add far more than that.

Both are good. Toronto gets to dump Kadri's salary and Anaheim gets a good young forward.

Dump Kadri's salary? He's undervalued at 4.5 million playing center and scoring 30 goals.

Lol why would the leafs need to dump Kadri Salary? Just signed it last year, great contract for a #2 Center , and just had a career year.

Kadri scores more goals and five less points than Tavares. Yea I know Tavares is better. But when I see the outrageous thoughts on acquiring Tavares just for one year, and calling Kadri a cap dump. Gee Ethan, .

All the deals seem fair.

Don't listen to Toronto fans, they know nothing except that everyone loves everyone on their team inside their bubble.
Pulock for Kadri, upgrades their team and saves the less tradeable Bozak. Maybe plays on top pair with Rielly.

Nylander for 1st + Ho-Sang + Toews is a fair opening offer based on precedent. Toronto might have to make that deal in the next couple years to fix roster problems, and the price probably goes up if they get the market into a bidding war.

As an alternate basis, the offer-sheet compensation for Nylander:
$5,888,960 to $7,851,948 First, second and third-round picks
$7,851,948 to $9,814,935 Two firsts, a second and third-round picks

I think we'll see the Leafs core all signed to extensions before any one of them is traded, when they have a few failures under their belt and no hope of the next season being any different.

Of course the compensation depends on the term....more than five years the compensation rises, which so many people fail to read.
Come July 1....What is Tavares worth to the Isles.....Zero, unless he signs with Isles...which I think he will. Who else is going to overpay for him?
Pulock for Kadri? Gee the Leafs have Dman prospects. Want to trade prospects for 30 goals scorer, how is Dermot for Tavares?

People think the Leafs might have problem signing their "stars". Yes it might happen. But when you don't have stars, teams still spend to the cap and often foolishly? Just take the Isles....Ladd, Kumulin, Eberele, Halak, money not well spend. Better to trade "star" players than waste money on UFAs or trading for other teams cap dumps.
