You might want to add Vancouver's first round pick for the last trade.

Wouldn't say no to that ofcourse. Maybe a conditional 1st that becomes the 2nd if Tanev doesn't play a certain amount of games.

True.
I don't know if Tanev is ready for the playoffs, despite his health and I do know he had several injuries in the past.

So you want Carolina to give up a young center signed long term that has a ceiling similar to that of the rental you're trading them, a 1st, a conditional pick that could become a 2nd, and the superior goalie for a dude coming off a sub .900 season and hasn't been particularly great this year...? Yeah, Canes block your number for this.

I can't see the Canucks adding a prospect like Raty. You might be able to get a 2nd + a guy like Karlsson or Sasson.

I do think someone else will offer up a 1st for him though.

Yew he's a rental. You could but then you won't have him for playoffs this year.

Playoffs aren't guranteed every year. When your team is rolling you give them the best chance you can to win a cup without mortgaging the future. It's not like this trade is cripling your future. Raty is like you're 10th best RFA/prospect.

If you can't understand the value of a reas9nably priced rental then nothing I'll say will convince you.

Markstrom has been great this season. He’s 2nd in the league in GSAx. I agree Carolina probably doesn’t do this deal, but Markstrom is easily an upgrade on Andersen (and all of Carolina’s goalies)

When's frederik andersson back?
Markstrom is having a good season.. He's 2nd in hdsv% he's also sitting ahead of goalies like sorokin, skinner, saros, heart, oetting and vasilevsky in stats like gaa and sv%.

Yeah kotkenemi ceiling is what lindholm is currently. Will kotkenemi get there soon? Maybe but it's not guaranteed.

Thought the canes were competing for a cup right now. This gives them two big upgrades right now in two key positions.

Big disagree. He's 7th in GSAx, and this is in comparison to a goalie that just had a .940 save percentage and was 2nd among all playoff goalies in GSAx in a much more difficult situation. Freddie's easily better when he's healthy. Plus, with him being medically cleared before Christmas, there's 0 reason to do this

If you can't spell Kotkaniemi correctly, I don't think I should spend my time trying to explain the reason Carolina do not invest in rentals and prefer cost controlled assets for players who are straight up a similar style to the rental they're getting.

If you can't spell make correctly I don't think I should waste my time explaining to you why you don't have to be here. You have literally no obligation to post here. No one pays you. No one depends on you to post here. No one cares what your opinions are and they make no tangiable impact on anything.

Good, don't make bad trades that make no sense for the other teams involved! Then, you won't have to listen to anyone who goes against your narrative.

Per Evolving Hockey Markstrom is 2nd. And Andersen had a .927 SV% in the playoffs last year not .940 (still very good but not quite as good as you said). Andersen also had 3 below average-bad seasons from 19/20-22/23, with 21/22 being his only good season in that time

My bad. I thought they'd want the best two players in the trade and clear upgrades in badly struggling key positions.

I guess I misunderstood the stats. Your goaltending and 2c must be positions of strength.
I should of just posted lindholm+marky to the canes for future considerations. Sorry to insult you so badly.

If we discount the 2020 season where he was forced to play injured, he had 2 good seasons and one bad season. Last year he was still an incredible netminder. I'd much rather have him than Markstrom right now

They're not the two best players, maybe you should try offering the two best players in the deal. Drop Andersen and include Spencer Martin. Drop KK and Jordan Martinook.

Or alternatively, keep them. Canes are doing just fine without them

You have 18,000 posts. What. The. ****. I take it back man. Someone must be paying you.

If someones not paying you, that is honestly impressive amounts your life wasted away.

Cool you don't want a rental. Your opinion is noted.
It seems like new Canucks management is fine paying for rentals though. They did acquire Big Z.

Out of curiosity, why do you just go around saying some form of "Canucks PASS!!!!" on hundreds of peoples GMs. You havn't posted one since 2022. Real strange behavior.
Same thing with that Caniac2000 troll. You guys just go around and try and **** on everything unless it's an absolute steal for your team, but never post your own.

You guys know these boards are meaningless right? You don't have some "duty" to protect the perceived value of your team on this site.
