It would have been nicer if the Leafs traded their first-round pick to Calgary in exchange for Chris Tanev.

What's the fascination about getting rid of Jones???? Leafs may/may not need him.

He just isn’t gonna clear waivers and we can’t afford to lose him for nothing

No one is paying a first for tanev man it was confirmed 2 months ago that he’s only worth a 2nd unretained, I have to pay more for them to deal with brad

We have two goalies on the roster and the better one is the wavier exempt one. So is adding Jones worth demoting Daws? (I don’t know the answer)

Since he cleared waivers once this season, I don't believe he is "claimable". But geez, that return is nothing.

You can just waive Gio. Similar to Spezza, nobody is going to claim him out of their respect for the player.

Gee if I'm the Panthers or Bruins....I might claim Gioradano. His cap is meaningless now, and it would sure hurt the Leafs not to an NHL Dman available.

The fact that the Leafs never played Hildeby when they had chance in the busy part of the schedule and played Jones throughout it, says to me that the Leafs don't want Hildeby in the NHL this season.
Gee, I would love to see him get some action and maybe see what we have for next season.

Hildeby was never getting in a game as soon as they played jones in that one back to back I knew he wasn’t getting into one, he won’t be ready next season either but 25/26 for sure he can be our back up

I really don't like the term back up. For those 25 games he starts, he's your guy he better be NHL competent. But hope you're right, that Hildeby or any of the young Leaf goalie prospects are NHL capable soon. It's like the silly term in baseball rating the starting pitchers as your 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th starters. Gee they all pitch 34 games, if healthy and it's the fifth guy who might just get 26 games.

A goalie like Sammy would be fine with signing a 1 year deal to build up his value and cash in the following year it’s the only play for me

Thing is if Sammy plays well (and the Leafs hope he does) he just might get a better offer from some team. If he plays poorly Leafs don't

Trouble is, if Sammy plays well (and the Leafs want him to) he'll get a better deal from some team than one year. If he plays poorly, no team, including the Leafs want him.
If I was betting, the Leafs will be looking at a 2m veteran on a one year deal...and hope he "has it" for one more year.
