Lily for tanev is never going to happen

Description

Leafs would decline to send lily for tanev 1-1 so why are all you leafs fans adding picks to lily, makes literally zero sense leafs need to add 1 top 4 D without subtracting anyone from the roster, lily is playing better then tanev this year for sure, tanev being on a bad team has something to do with that but still I think lily is at least as good as tanev and is 10 years younger i understand brad had a bad offseason but he isn’t stupid enough to make this trade, he’s usually really good when trading, lily has been our second best defender this season he isn’t going anywhere, flames wouldn’t want to add the necessary picks to make this trade go through, ITS NEVER GONNA HAPPEN

This is terrible asset management on the Leafs side. Value isnt the problem in this trade. Tanev can be had as a UFA in the offseason. This trade fixes one hole and creates another. So i agree with ur assessment.

Question is what can they do in the off season? Gio and Brodie shouldn't be back, leafs need nasty guys to fill those spots. Rielly and Lilly aren't overly physical so you need to surround them with guys who are. McCabe and Benoit are better than average and as a 3rd pairing would be amazing. Now the leafs need to add 2 physical guys to play with Rielly and Lilly. The possible UFA 25-26 d-men that could be available is stacked, maybe patience is necessary. Making foolish moves to try to win when it's not going to happen isn't what a good GM does. Is Trev a good GM, idk it's questionable.

I agree Brodie and gio won’t be back, hopefully sign tanev, Benoit and McCabe have been very physical I think if you check out todays post for next year that’s how I’d set it up, lily has been our second best defender this year and deserves to be on the top pair with Reilly really let him grow to his full potential

While I think the Leafs should keep Lijegren, he should probably be on the 3rd pair with a defensive minded partner, his development still seems like a work in progress.

Not sure pairing Lijegren with a rover like Rielly is the best spot for him at this point.

Gee in the last weeks Flames/Leafs game......the oh so superior Flames Dmen of Hanifan, Weager, Andersson and Tanev allowed four goals. The Leafs and all their crappy Dmen allowed three goals.
