Tanev isn't that special. Did he really stand out last night? The defenceman to target from the Flames would be Hanifin and Weegar. If Treliving wants to sign Tanev for cheap in free agency then that's okay, but giving up picks and prospects for him isn't smart.

Weegar isn’t available and Hanifin would decline to resign in Toronto so they won’t acquire him, he ends up in Boston, NJ or Arizona

The Abbruzese take is baseless, no one credible has ever said they have interest in him. Francis only pointed out him and Coronato played together 2 years ago. That being said I wouldn't mind trading a 6th or 5th for him. The rest of the package is pretty much 3 more 5ths + Niemela. So Flames pass, they will get a better offer elsewhere
