If Jack or Nico are hurt, we have no interest in buying a rental.

Monahan ends up as a 4th liner on the devils.

I don’t know what is worst : thinking Holtz >>> Dach, thinking Dach = Calgary’s first, thinking Dach = Newhook or thinking Holtz gets Montembeault + first (maybe Montembeault + third but that’s a strech)

Dach has a career high of 19 points 5v5 (Holtz already surpassed that this year). He just had knee surgery.

When you traded for him he had 4 years at 3.3 mill+1 year of RFA control. He now has 2 years and 1 year of RFA control. His value has gone down, not up.

Holtz has 2 years of ELC and 4 years of RFA control.

Newhook again career high of 27 5v5 points. Holtz already at 20.

Again significantly more team control. Better draft pedigree, playing better.

Montembault is worth just shy of a 1st.

2nd+3rd+3rd ≈ 1st.

So Calgary 1st+ 2nd+3rd= Holtz
Minus the 2nd and 3rd, and add a 3rd from NJD.

Once again, holtz would lead Montreal in 5v5 scoring by 5 points, and has more 5v5 goals than Caufield and Suzuki combined

But again if you don’t want any of those offers, move on.

Holtz+2nd for Guhle is also on the table.

fans and expectations are wild here sometimes ... Monahan can play every forward position and be a leader. You don't want him on your team but refuse his market value ... so long for a cup then. Have fun!

So Devils are going to pay the same price on 1-year of Monahan that Habs paid for 4-years of Dach?

He hasn’t been great 5v5

He hasn’t been good on the kill

He just kinda exists on the power play.

I don’t think he improves us in any area.

10 minutes a night with no PP or PK time on a healthy devils squad just isn’t worth it

Wonder how much Dach’s value has dropped after a season ending knee injury and 2 years of control wasted

And he still has yet to reach his career high of 19 5v5 points from his rookie year

The 2nd rounder is probably sufficient for Monahan and Allen…but I don’t think Devils are buying forwards or goalies (unless a good one comes along).

Hard to hold the injury against him…he was hit into the bench. But one can be big and fragile.

Not saying he’s injury prone.

Knee surgery probably impacts him even into next year tho.

So really you’re getting 1 year of value+1 year of RFA control.

A lot less than 4 years of value+1 year of RFA control

If you want to cherry pick on 5v5, sure. But Dach and Holtz at the same age are very far apart. Dach has 13 pts more per 82. He is bigger, better defensively, plays a more valuable position, etc.

By your own logic, Mcdavid, after a career high 150 pts season, lost value cuz he had less team control…

Better pedigree, I’m not sure about that. A top 10 pick who didn’t make the league until he was 21 doesn’t have more pedigree than a top 3 pick who plays in the league since he is 18.

Montembeault is worth more than a first. He is a top 10 goalie in 2024 so far and has been almost elite since his new contract. If Allen or Primeau was playing instead of him, the habs would have at least 7 less wins. You said first + second for Holtz. Assuming Montembeault is a first, a third and like a fifth, Montembeault and a third is more than enough for Holtz

Suzuki and Caufield have 12 5v5 goals combined. Holtz has 10. FYI, Bratt has the same amount of 5v5 goals as Caufield. Is Holtz a better player than Hughes, Hischier, Bratt and Meier cuz he has more 5v5 goals?

Dach was RFA Monahan is an experienced leader that produces almost at the same pace as Lindholm who's the top one center in rumors lately and on many lists... so are we going to ask less ?

Guhle has the same value to us than Nemec to you. Would you do Nemec for Holtz and a second?

McDavid gets less trade value with each year that goes on yeah.

He was the best player in hockey going into last year, the year before that, the year before that.

But you get less years of him now if you trade for him than you would have if you traded for him last year

Except Nemec is younger, better, more draft pedigree, has more team control and plays a more valuable position.

It’s more like Holtz has the same value to us as Guhle does to you.

So that means pts mean nothing. You can put up 150 pts and your value will go down. Lol. That means Roy has more value than McDavid

If you traded for him last year you would have gotten those 150 points for your team, in addition to everything he will do going forward.

Those 150 points are exactly why his value is lower now. Because Edmonton USED that value. For their team. To help THEM win.

Do you go try and sell your car back to the dealership after a year and expect full price?

Guhle is better both offensively and defensively. Nemec is awful defensively (wich is normal at his age)
