You are undervaluing Barron, likely the issue with your trade above... he's easily worth more than a 2nd round pick.

Barron is a projected 2nd pair Dman, he is currently 16th in his draft class for NHL points as a defenseman, that isn't far off McGroarty's selection at 14th overall.

Davidson was Seattle's leading scorer in junior when him and Lambert beat the Ice in last year's WHL finals. A sweetener sure, but he's not irrelevant.

In Pronman's most recent prospect rankings McGroarty is 76th while Barron is 115th, they aren't that far off.

I get it if you just really like McGroarty but give Barron a little respect, you wouldn't be putting him on your 2nd pair if you think he's worth a 2nd round pick.

I wouldn't bother with the Montreal trade. There's nothing there that really does anything for Winnipeg. It's a trade for the sake of making a trade.
