Paying to add gudbranson is going like 20 steps backwards

how does adding one of the worst players in the league on one of the worst contracts in the league help anyone but the team getting rid of him?
I mean, if everyone knows you have a problem and a bad defence then columbus should be paying the leafs 10 first rounders to upgrade from gudbranson to brodie

Especially with an offer like that. Niemella is one of our better D prospects and with hope can be a good top 4 D. Gudbranson is as best a 6 on a contender.
Trading out best D prospect and a decent forward property plus for Gudbranson when him and Rutta are both #6 Dmen. It will not help us.

But he's Gudbranson. The human Pilon. I admit from my posts I have some differing opinions but Gudbranson if he helps would be as a 6. We have Benoit much cheaper to provide that. No need to overpay for Gudbranson.

Gudbranson's not great (aside from being a good leader/locker room guy), and Toronto doesn't offer that deal...but it is really satisfying to see multiple playoff team ACGM's trading for him because suddenly He'S eXaCtLy WhAt We NeEd!!!

Leafs would have interest in a Gudbranson type. His underlying numbers have been (OK) recently. It would need to be at least 50% retention and very little going back to CLB.
