The best piece in the trade going to Anaheim is a LHD.

Anaheim already has the best LHD prospect pipeline in the league.

Reinhacher and the 25 2nd is the cost for Zegras.

Devils are only going to be interested in Allen if it’s this year. If it’s the offseason we’ll be going after a bigger fish or just signing a free agent

By the time the draft comes around, the Devils wouldn’t be interested in Allen anymore. Allen would be a fix for this year and a potential backup next year, but that trade would have to come this season. In the offseason, the Devils are gonna look for their long term fix in net

No sense in trading Guhle for Zegras. Sure we have Hutson and Matheson but they're both similar players and I rather a Guhle + Hutson/Matheson than a Harris/Xhekaj + Hutson/Matheson

There's room for debate on the Zegras trade value wise but Guhle doesn't fit their needs anyway so it's not really a consideration.
They want more of a top pairing shutdown potential RHD.

who are the top LD prospects for Anaheim, ik of Zellweger and Mintyukov but who would be the others?
Habs LHD are Guhle, Hutson, Engstrom all w top 4 potential and maybe top pair although Engstrom is the most unlikely to achieve it
Struble, Harris and Xhekaj are decent 3rd pair guys, with Struble prob having the best ceiling.

    Thoughts on

Barron + Farrell + the lower of their 2 2025 1sts, assuming one isn't in the top 10

We'd only send out Zegras for a blue chip piece at a position of need. That's one of Reinbacher or Slafkovsky.

The reason we sent out Drysdale for Gauthier was that we desperately needed more scoring, and Mintyukov's emergence as a PPQB made Drysdale less critical to the teams future, as well as the flock of other puck moving D prospects we have. Zegras meanwhile was second on the team on scoring his rookie season, and first last season. We also have a cupboard chocked full of middle six pieces, which is what a late first likely turns into 3-5 years from now. We see no reason to ship out Z for a grab bag of lesser pieces that we already have plenty of internally.

Long in the short of it is, you can't acquire Zegras with pieces you wouldn't mind loosing.

Jackson LaCombe is already in the NHL and will have more than 80 games in the League by the end of the season, and Tyson Hinds has promise.

Anaheim would want, and be entitled to, the higher of your 2025 firsts.

so habs are deeper, even tho its slightly, and on the RD ducks are also doing good.
and agree on anaheim getting the highest of the 2 in 25, but without Barron.

The difference is Guhle would actually fetch a return.

    Xhekaj and Harris would not

Yeah I just wasn't sure what NJ wanted to do at the TDL, this trade could easily happen at the TDL though
