Why, just why? Here is why both teams say no:

COL - Backes is 33yr old and by the time this team is competitive, Backes will be calling it a career. I'm a fan of Backes and think he gets a lot of flak from Bruins nation, but this guy makes zero sense for a rebuilding team like the Colorado Avalanche.

BOS - Boston would consider it, but Backes axes that deal quickly as he would have no interest in going to a rebuilding team. The guy wants to win a cup and he wont do it with the Av's.
