if Kuz doesnt fit tocchet's scheme why risk their best prospect, a first, and a player of similar style and skill? You lose more and inherit more risk

Vancouver roughly has $31,000,000 to sign 11 players.

Elias Pettersson will be in the 8 x $11,000,000 to 8 x $12,000,000 range.

Filip Hronek should be in the 8 x $7,500,000 range.

And reportedly Jake Guentzel is seeking 8 x $9,000,000

To be able to fill out the rest of the roster, You'd pretty much need to deal Boeser, Garland and Kuzmenko or else you'll be capped strapped.

Guentzal is a far more established and reliable player than Kuzmenko. He averages 20mins a game and is a point per game 30-40 goal scorer. Brustewicz is a really good prospect but not our best prospect (behind Lekkerimaki, Willander, and arguably Pettersson). The first will hopefully be a late pick.

It's not a cheap price to pay but it is a clear upgrade to the top of the lineup.

And with bringing in Zucker as well there is familiarity as Zucker, Guentzal, Blueger all played together in Pittsburgh under Rutherford. So hopefully it is an easy transition for them.

True, But he did say hopefully re-sign Guentzel, But i don't see how it's humanly possible without trading some of those players i have listed.

Price to pay to make a cup push. Ideally they find a way to keep Guentzal but I would make the move under the assumption he will be a rental. IMO Brustewicz is best used as a trade chip. His stock is through the roof right now from the time he was drafted but he still has a long ways to go to be an NHLer. Kuzmenko clearly doesn't fit with Tocchet.

Canucks arent going all in. They are not burning picks or prospects for one kick at it. They may pick up a depth player here and there at a reasonable price and thats it. This reminds me of the trade Miller fiasco before he signed, closely followed by the Boeser one last season. All media hype. All BS.

Fox wouldn't sign with them. It's a risk just like trading any other prospect. For every Adam fox there are a bunch of guys who never make it as well or are just okay like Brannstrom or Lundkvist.
