Dude no way. I am a Leafs fan but Seattle has one of the best and deepest talent pools in hockey. Wright can be skipped if Leafs get two of their other prospects for sure.
Wright, Goyette, Firkus, Morrison, Ty Nelson, Ed sale, kartye, Borgden. Look these guys up. Firkus led the whl in scoring and Goyette in the ohl....Seattle has so much to offer that can fill so many voids in the Leafs system.

If I recall correctly, Brian Burke talks about doing that to players in his book. Seemingly worked for him.
I think because Toronto is so hostile with Marner already, if he didn't waive to give Toronto a good package back then he wouldnt really be wanted or welcome there. People speak their mind in public when you demand every penny of what your potential brings, and then completely fail to meet those expectations.

If Marner was traded for prospects
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakBirds23</b></div><div>Even if it's a sign and trade I don't think Seattle is the dance partner for Marner. Every trade I have seen on ACGM just creates another roster problem for Seattle. The two main things they need right now are a 4th center (Beniers, Wright, Gourde, mystery skater), and scoring. A trade for Marner would probably mean at least a $5M contract going to Toronto and while I know Larsson and Oleksiak get floated I don't think it's either of them. That would leave Burakovsky (Been great when healthy, just hasn't been healthy in Seattle), Tanev, and Bjorkstrand. Ideally it would be Burakovsky but there are so many red flags there. The Kraken are closer to finally having a deep prospect pool but I think there is still a reluctance to trade much of that in a deal.
That would put the deal at something like:
Marner (sign and trade)
Timmins
Burakovsky
Borgen
Firkus
Morrison
2024 3rd Round pick (TML)
Even that doesn't seem balanced. Between Rehkopf, Firkus, Goyette, and Morrison you have 4 of the teams top 10 prospects. Draft wise that was 3 2nd's and a undrafted 20yo.
But I also am not sure that RF makes any moves until he has a new coach in place. Doesn't make sense to trade for something that doesn't fit in the new coaches schemes.</div></div>
All logical points, but to be fair it's not like you don't get anything in return. You get a first round defensemen who is just an RFA, a replacement for Shultz, and an elite star... which is the one thing your roster completely lacks.
You need that if you want to get to the next level. You can't guarantee Bernie's or wright makes that leap... and even still you keep them here.
You currently have all the depth, the goalie, the prospects, but no star. Our of all of what you need to win, you don't need prospects. You only need that to sustain winning. With the depth of the kraken bring , at their ages, they are win now, you can trade for Marner and get to the next level. With wright, Bernie's, sale, Dunn, you have the pieces to continually stay there. Even Marner isn't old.
Getting an elite player isnt free. If you want to give up cap, give someone like gourde or tanev. Or get a 3rd team to get burkies. Sharks .. Hawks.. whoever... But for what you get, and how hard it is to find an elite player, the prospects are so minor in my opinion. Even if its 4/10. For a multi time 90 point guy is absolutely pennies.
The way I see it, is as Borgden for Lily, and Marner for those 4. Timmins is a bonus and replaces Shultz. Seattle mitigates the cap problem.
Considering you get Marner and we get what ifs. I'd think that's even

If Marner was traded for prospects
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakBirds23</b></div><div>Seattle passes. Depletes their farm system. Firkus and Rehkopf were specifically drafted for their scoring prowess after the Kraken's year 1 and lack of scoring. Also way to much to give up for 1 year of Marner.
Obviously the problem for the Leafs in the playoffs has been Mathews, not Marner, as the team seems to be playing lights out without him</div></div>
That's fair. Id think Marner extends though otherwise I'd totally agree. Toronto would sign then trade. I should have made that clear.
Maybe add some of what was traded to Pittsburgh, or Steeves. You still have sale, you still have Wright. Your upper echelon young talent is still there. To be fair you guys just have so much young talent I think you can afford to make this move without feeling the I'll effects as much as others.
If Marner extends what would be your thoughts then?
I think the problem is much more than just one of them. Nylander is the only one that constantly shows in pressure situations

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FireShanahanTrelivingKeefe</b></div><div>Why fire Treliving 1st of all did he do anything positive for Calgary, big fat no.
He signed Klingberg to a NMC 4m contract !
He signed Reaves at 36 to a 3 year 1.35 M contract.
He signed Kampf at about 700K too much with a NTC too just to add to the stupidity.
He signed Nylander to an 11.5 contract with a full NMC so we can't do anything again for another year with cap restraints.
He signed Bertuzzi to 5.5M when he has NEVER in his career been even close to worth that!
Then to save the team in the playoffs he adds Dewar , completely useless, Edmundosn at 17 average minutes had 71 turnovers last year, complete garbage defense, and Lyubushkin who was not good enough 2 years ago but suddenly he is now?
Did I miss anything ?
Probably but I think that should be enough for now!
Of course we did not even discuss Samsonov who we should have just let walk, there was a reason WAS gave up on him !</div></div>

This is the realistic AGM. You can't force a guy to waive his no move. You have to deal with it until next year

Do you watch hockey? Guy is the primary person who is going toe to toe with one of the biggest rats of all time. Give Marchand some credit there brother. He does do a good job drawing penalties.
I'd agree 3 penalties in 4 games is a lot but if you've been watching the games it's not like those penalties are bad penalties. He's always battling, which is exactly what you want in the playoffs. Something Mitch is lacking entirely. That's our entire point on why Marner gets traded and Bertuzzi stays in all of these AGMs. Leafs fans just want some one who cares and will battle to win. At least show some fkn effort, Mitch.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Marner has been more effective than Bertuzzi and yet everyone wants to give him cap space to not do anything.</div></div>
Totally disagree, atleast Bertuzzi brings things outside of scoring to make up for any poor defensive plays. Routinely sets the tone, gets into gritty areas and wins board battles, parks his ass infront of the goalie on the PP. Gets domi and Matthews the puck, draws penalties. He is the type of player Toronto needs to keep. Fundamentally him and marner aren't comparable. One is playing for a 5m contract, the other 10.9. expectations are totally different.
Marner never gave Toronto any breaks and we paid him for what his potential was. He has never played like a 11M guy in the playoffs. Why would Toronto give him any breaks if he never gave us one. His offense does not make up for the lack of effort, entitlement for call, avoidance of contact, and poor defensive play in the playoffs.
