1.
PIT
  1. Marner, Mitchell
  2. Samsonov, Ilya
Détails additionnels:
Marner is a better version of Conor Sheary - a shifty player in transition and has high hockey IQ, except he can actually control the puck
TOR
  1. Carter, Jeff
  2. Graves, Ryan
  3. Jarry, Tristan
Détails additionnels:
Jeff Carter for Samsonov - two unplayable individuals and Graves + Jarry for Marner
2.
PIT
  1. Lafrenière, Alexis
Détails additionnels:
Lafreniere has a lot of Hornqvist in him - straight line speed and hard to deal with in net front and on forecheck - I believe a Lafreniere-Crosby-Marner line would be a better version of the Sheary-Crosby-Hornqvist first line in 2016
NYR
  1. Smith, Reilly
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2025 (PIT)
Détails additionnels:
Penguins send a third to San Jose to retain 50% on Smith - I believe he would be an excellent winger for Zibanejad - like a better version of 21-22 Vatrano
3.
BUF
Future considerations - Jost has a lot of Hagelin to his games would do great in a rush system and Bryson has a lot of Dumoulin to his game
    4.
    PIT
    1. Aho, Sebastian
    2. Wahlstrom, Oliver
    3. Choix de 3e ronde en 2025 (NYI)
    Détails additionnels:
Wahlstrom would be a good reclamation project for a team that desperately needs U-25 talents
    NYI
    1. Rakell, Rickard
    Détails additionnels:
Rakell would be a good fit alongside Barzal and Horvat
    5.
    PIT
    1. Bean, Jake
    2. Roslovic, Jack
    Détails additionnels:
Roslovic could be our Nick Bonino and Bean could be our Trevor Daley
    CBJ
    1. Acciari, Noel
    2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (PIT)
    Détails additionnels:
Pascal Vincent would love to have Acciari on a line with Jenner and Kuraly - 3 forechecking beasts

Columbus accepts, and I agree about Jenner-Kuraly-Acciari. Jenner's lost his top-six spot at this point, so why not move him down and make what is one of the best fourth lines in the league?

Well I feel he would be an excellent fit for our system. I feel in New York he is great off the rush but bad at forechecking cuz his linemates are too small. Forechecking in PIT with Crosby would make him a 60+ point player.

It is strange why Colombus is not doing good. They have a great defence on paper and a great forward core. Maybe they need experience but I feel the coach hasn’t managed the players too well.

I think Marner would fetch more on his own rather than be sandbagged by having to be dealt with Samsonov.

They're definitely better than their record, especially on paper, but this is still at best an 80-85 point team. They're so young, with so many questions (although quite a few of them are settled at this point at the season), with a first-time head coach who got the job less than a week before training camp began after a major scandal. They collapse in the third every time they have a lead, make rookie mistakes on the ice quite frequently, the vets they do have have missed significant time to injury, and have an extremely volatile goaltender. Not a great recipe. As we always say, maybe next year.

No thanks, that Lafrenière is part of the only really consistent line we have in NYR. Besides value isn't really there. But good that you like the kid.

that Marner trade is horrible .. Jeff Carter is useless, Graves is not a valuable piece for the leafs and Jarry is not anywhere close to being worth a 1 for 1 trade for Marner.

I’m not saying Graves has been good for us but have you seen Toronto’s defence? Of course he is valuable to them!

I feel other than the Gudbranson pairing and the Kuraly line, Columbus needs to play by collapsing in the d-zone, blocking shots, relentless forecheck and attacking off the rush. The young players will not be physically mature enough to win board battles.

Well, Jarry is playing really well actually, I don’t like him as a PIT fan but it should be an easy deal for Toronto to take given their need for goalies.

And Graves is bad in Pittsburgh but it’s mainly cuz of the system. I don’t think Toronto’s system would complement him much better but Treliving will be desperate.

just given the cap hit and term they each just signed for and their level of play...neither are wagons I'd want to hitch up to at this point....let alone sending Marner the other way

You’re exaggerating pretty hard with the comparables you’re throwing about for the Sabres depth players you’re interested in- they’re fine for a 13th forward or 7th defenseman….
BUT there’s also a reason both were on waivers, and no one claimed them, and they’re playing in the AHL now

Well, it’s a matter of fit, both guys can skate at the NHL level, they have good puck control and have the required strength and balance to play in the NHL. What can be improved on is their decision making, and that will come by playing alongside players that complement them well and a system that coaches to their strengths.

Nobody believed in us when we called up 5 AHLers and added Justin Schultz to our blueline in 2016, but it worked out.
