Avs say no. Byram alone is almost an overpay for JEEK, then add their best prospect Ritchie and a first? Yeah Avs totally say no, Wild definitely say yes though

I just don’t see Eriksson Ek getting moved for any realistic deal. Hes their best center easily

Uh, no.

JEEK's current market value is rated at $8M, while currently only being paid $5.25M AAV for the next 6 years. It's easily one of the best value contracts in the league. Furthermore, he's a top-six center, the more valued position. Plays a Selke caliber level two-way game, and is arguably the best shutdown center in the league now, sans Bergeron.

Bowen Byram is a oft injured #3 2nd pairing defenseman with a current market value rating of $2.9M.

Their value ain't close there, chief.

Yes, Byram has top pairing upside. No, Minnesota doesn’t care. They still don't consider this trade. Ritchie is nice, but him, Byram, a disappointment and mistake turned cap dump in Johanson, a late 1st, and a prospect who spurned Minnesota by signing with Colorado over the Wild isn't as appealing as you think it is.

The ONLY pieces of interest in this trade are Ritchie and Byram, and Rossi's emergence as a top-six center this year largely negates the interest in Ritchie. So while Byram is good, he's not THAT good.

For reference, JEEK is easily the 2nd most important and untouchable player on their roster after Kaprizov. Over Boldy, over Spurgeon, over Brodin. Over everyone.

Really appreciate the insight, turned my head on it. I just wanted to ask where you find what a players market value is?

Glad that both sides don't want this deal.... Lol. My personal opinion Minnesota would do this deal quickly and team Faber with Byram really solidify your defense for next 10 years...
JEEk is great but I don't think he would fit the Avs style of play.

The Atheltic has their market value. It's not perfect and I wouldn't use it as a be all end all but a good reference and baseline (especially good when estimating value of players you aren't very familiar with)

Thanks for being open-minded.

As for where you can find out a players market value. There're several different ways and options to do so.

The first is through Evolving-Hockey and its contract projection feature. It's unfortunately stuck behind a paywall.

Evolving-Hockey

The second is through the Athletic and Dom L.'s GSVA based score cards for players. That's what these numbers specifically are based off of. @NHLfan10506 recently used these to determine the most valuable players in the league in one of his latest posts.
