Description
As far as this season goes I don’t have the isles moving anyone such as Aho or gauthier if things go south cause I don’t think they will the way they’ve played recently. Isles have made some sneaky hood moves adding Reilly and bort after losing their 2 shutdown guys. Hard to take Reilly out of his spot especially if your choosing him or aho. Reilly has earned him raise and he’ll get it especially by a San Jose typa team. Overall Reilly, Aho and bort walk unless they can get Aho around 900k. Keep salo, bolduc and possibly aho around incase a similar injury bug comes around again.

CLUTTERBUCK retires and Martin leaves too, leaving Casey alone but he still provides a lot to this team so he stays.

Holmstrom- a invaluable player so far this season. 5 penalty kill goals is insanely impressive in itself but he’s only getting better and more confident. Sign him to a nice bridge for both the team and himself to eventually earn some big money if he can continue to grow.

Ideally you’d want to move on from one of palmeri or pageaus contracts allowing this team to go out and make some meaningful moves this offseason even though Lou isn’t a big FA guy.

Even with how bad I personally I think Lee’s contract is you simply can’t get rid of him

First you gotta figure out Wahlstroms future with this team. If he comes back into the lineup this season and proves he can be a middle six guy on this team then sign him to another prove it contract because he hasn’t earned anything above that in his performance this year and last. If he continues this inconsistency then just wash your hands of him and send his rights or make a sign and trade to any outta divison team for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I’m this I have the isles moving on from him and going out to get a better right handed shot

As far as additions go i think If Oliver bojorkstrand is available this off-season I would rather trade Wahlstrom along with a 2nd and late round pick for him. But against realistic options I have then signing guentzel for a long term contract.

Calle can be replaced by any 2 mil and under middle 6 player just thought he fits the isles play style

Varly just signed a new deal with a full no trade. He wouldn’t waive it for EDM nor would the Isles trade him. He’s actually been the better goalie so far this season. We absolutely need him and Varly has also said he’s fine backing up his close friend Sorokin for the rest of his career

Anders Lee is not a center. Way too slow and honestly not talented enough

Brock is not a winger at this point in his career.

Why break up one of the best 2nd lines in hockey and trade Palmieri?

Guentzel signs for way more IMO

How could you not keep Mike Reilly for cheap?

There’s a lot I don’t see happening with this one

Edmonton doesn't want an aging goalie, and they're okay with the goalies that they have on their roster.
    No thanks.

    Who is bort?

These lines are a mess, three centers on your top line and Lee centering the 2nd line, wtf is that?..lol

The Islanders need scoring wingers and thats pretty much it, have solid centers, pretty decent depth, a great defense, one of the best goalies in the world and an awesome goalie tandem.

As an Oilers fan im 100% taking Varmy over Pickard or Campbell, especially for that price.

We tried to trade for him last year but he didn't wanna leave NYI

This team finishes with (at least) 10-12 fewer points than whatever they get this year

so you think Palmer > Guentzal and you'd rather have some random vet or engvall on the 2nd line than Calle?

this team is way better than the roster they have out there

You will run Sorokin into the ground with that tandem. Varly > Mrazek ALONE has to be an 8 point swing in the standings. You won’t get Guentzel to sign for that and again that second line breaking up is a bad idea. I would want Engvall there over Jarnkrok yes

I’m not sure if you know this but backups normally don’t get payed 2.75. You lose 3 extra games to get what this team needs which is scoring. Who cares on the east guentzel number. I’m not sure where you see their 2nd line as one of the best in the leauges but I’d actually put it towards the 20th range

    https://moneypuck.com/lines.htm

Use this, change toggle to offensive lines only. Raise minutes slider to 225

Engvall-Nelson-Palmieri is one of the best lines in hockey. Engvall’s transition game allows Brock and Palmieri to do what they do best: score. Look at the two games Engvall was scratched this year and see how the games ended up. Isles lost both and couldn’t get much going offensively. He is a stud.

And I would happily pay Varly that salary because if Sorokin goes down he’s still an NHL starting goalie. He would be a starter on probably half the teams in the league
