Description
If you’re Edmonton you’ve gotta be ALL IN. That means trading away your future prospects and draft picks for anything to better your team = depth scoring and a better Defensive lineup to counterbalance the offense. The draft picks come into play with teams helping retain salaries for players with a year left on their deals. I think the best lineup for Edmonton is rolling 7 D men every night. You’re going to double shift McDavid and Leon so why even have that 12th forward.. Joel Edmundson is a big body, cup champ and has tons of experience in the playoffs would be an excellent guy to slot in anywhere on D.

I do not think Tanev or Hanifin will be resigning with the Flames .. therefore they might be dealt at or before the deadline so the team can at least get some assets back for them.

The Sharks are in Full sell mode for the next 2+ years and would entertain any offers if it means gaining good prospects and picks in return.

The Caps would entertain a trade for RNH considering it likely looks like Backstrom will retire due to injuries/age. He could slot in their #1 or 2 center role.

Well a few things

Campbell can't be bought out mid year

Wilson can't be retained on since he signed an extension with Washington already

Lets go through each trade

Nuge >>> Wilson
Kulak > Edmundson
We could probably grab Kuemper with our 24'1st and a prospect like Savoie so why complicate things? Kuemper is the only one I have interest in

Foegele > Duclair
Those other two pieces are worth a 2nd combined so big overpayment there

Flames reject they can get much more by trading Tanev and Hanafin seperately and I'd rather us keep Mcleod

That Washington trade would be terrible for Edmonton and completely one sided almost seems like a troll trade

Sounds to me like you’re just content with losing in the playoffs yet again to the Avs, Vegas, LA, or Winnipeg.. because all of those teams have way better structure and depth then the Oilers. The point of these trades is to offer new perspective and new defensive minded players. Of course in the long term none of these trades look good for the Oilers but short term they all offer something the Oilers need and that’s grit, defense , puck possession/keeping goals out of their net.

These aren't all that good for the Oilers.

Maybe you missed it but the Caps signed Wilson to a 7 year extension, he isn't getting traded. There's an argument to be made for acquiring Kuemper but Wilson isn't getting traded and Edmunson is pretty broken down at this point so overall that entire trade needs to be reworked and RNH should not be traded.

Idk about that Sharks trade, those guys would help but Idk, maybe just get one of them and keep Foegele.

The Flames trade no doubt improves the defense but putting Nurse on the 3rd pair is ridiculous and the Oilers can't trade that many controlled assets for rentals, don't see the Flames waiting till 2026 for a 1st round pick from Hanifin either.

Oh and Campbell can't be bought out till the summer so that would throw a big wrench into this whole proposal.
